“Well, this was quite an adventure, which (with hindsight) was remarkably painless.
The Macfxit site automatically directed me to the appropriate page to order the Data Doubler kit (without tools) suited for a machine with a factory installed drive in the upper (ALT) bay. So far, so good . . .
When the parts arrived and everything was taken apart, despite the documentation and video, it was not clear how to attach the new cable to the second drive and put it all back together . . . The new cable seemed all wrong . . . much too long. Shock and horror, perhaps I had somehow ordered the wrong cable after all . . .
(Note to self: Probably don't try to do this installation for the first time after midnight.)

The trick was to wrap the new cable around the mounting bar. Don't worry you can bend and crimp as vigorously as you like (it even has dotted lines where this should be done!). The OWC cable seems near indestructible.
So, I now have a real hotrod with a 500Gb Samsung 850 Evo SSD drive for the operating system and software and a 1Tb 7,200rpm Hitachi TravelStar drive for the data.
Was it worth a measly $AU49.89 ($AU9.90 shipping & handling included) for the upgrade . . . ??
