“My 4GB 2011 High Sierra iMac27 kept crashing in Photos, so I decided to upgrade to 8 GB Ram by buying OWC memory upgrade kit from MacFixit. The kit arrived very quickly by free express post.
It seemed easy to fit the 2GB RAM modules into the remaining 2 memory slots, and after restarting my iMac was very happy to see my iMac was registering 8GB RAM.
This lasted for a few days, but then screen went black and iMac started [playing triple tone sounds.
I rang my local Apple dealer and was told it might be a bad memory module connection. So I removed the 2 new memory modules and refitted them.
Problem solved! And since then my 8GB RAM iMac27 has run without fault. Thank you MacFixit and my local dealer.
