After many years teaching high school at various places in Queensland and finally at Hervey Bay I retired in 2011 and married a wonderful Uruguayan lady. Since then we have had a travelling lifestyle but are in Australia for several months every year. My wife worked online as a consultant for a very large international organisation, but retired in 2017 giving us more time for traveling.
We are both animal lovers but these days we enjoy other people's pets because our lifestyle does not allow us to have our own.
Whenever we stay long enough in one place in Australia Silvia volunteers at the nearest animal refuge. Dogs particularly are her love so that provides some dog time whenever she gets the opportunity.
We have done a lot of house sitting over the last several years in the US, Germany, Spain, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Uruguay through word of mouth contacts and also some through housesitting websites. We have only been with Mind-a-Home since September 2020 but can refer you to several home owners from previous house sits as referees. We have a page in Facebook called "Silvia and Lionel" where you can view things related to our house sits - just search for us.
We have also spent a lot of time volunteering with various conservation organisations, often in a caretaker role for a month or so at a time.
Neither of us smoke.
When I had my own place I was a keen gardener so looking after your garden or plants is no problem. We have our own car in Australia.
Although we own an apartment in Montevideo it is rented out so we split our time between Australia, and various other countries each year. If you would like to talk with us we are happy to talk online/video or else ring you. When we are in regions with mobile phone/internet coverage we do check messages regularly so we are not hard to contact even when we are not in Australia.
