Hello I’m Dave.
I’m an active self funded retiree. I love to travel this great country in my caravan and overseas and mixing it up with house, apartment, farm/let, small acreage and pet sits. My home is in Dickson, Canberra.
I have 3 adult children and 7 grandchildren.
My beautiful wife Jackie and I started house sitting in 2022. We did our first house sit in Canberra while owners were o/seas - (see feedback). Sadly in late 2022 Jackie succumbed to cancer and passed away, hence why I am now a solo sitter.
I love animals having had many dogs (3 Maltese Shitzus and a Jack Russell, now deceased), cats George a British Blue and Puzzy a moggie, (both now deceased), birds, guinea pigs, chooks, fish, bees, the menagerie over the years with our children.
I'm passionate about providing care for pets and animals who need company. I understand the importance of routine and consistency, and I'll treat your pets with the love and respect they deserve, as their unconditional love is given in return.
I am an avid walker and happy to take your dog/s or cats (if they prefer) for walks if that is their routine.
I grew up on a 2,500 acre farm near Young NSW and am familiar with animal husbandry and the care of animals. We had sheep, cattle, pigs, horses, chooks, ducks, geese, sheepdogs, cats, birds and guinea pigs and our closest companions corgis.
My family had our own 7 acre hobby farm in Bowning NSW for 6 years where we went for weekends and during the week out of Canberra.
We had alpacas, bore goats and mixed poultry and a 100 mixed fruit tree orchard which we planted out and bees in hives for pollination and honey.
I am a quiet and respectful person, but like a chat, non smoking, non drinker, but enjoy a glass of red now and then.
I will take excellent care of your home, garden, plants, pets and animals. I take great pride in keeping a home clean and tidy, just like my own.
I am a keen and active gardener, vege grower, a bonsai enthusiast, like walking, reading and bike riding and a sudoku and crossword fan. I am very involved in my adult children’s and 7 grandchildren’s lives, probably a lot less in the past 3 and 1/2 years as I’ve been doing a lot of international and domestic travel, but they know I am there when they need me, since Jackie passed away.
