Hi there! My name is Mark and I am a former professional photographer, now taking time off to write.
I was a home-owner from 2001 until 2021, and understand the feeling of being house-proud and emotionally attached to your home.
I've house-sat off and on for years and have looked after dogs, cats, fish, parrots, horses, goats, geese, and spent lots of time around cattle, sheep, and chickens.
I have taken care of a variety of animals in places ranging from city apartments to working farms. Animals love me and I very much enjoy seeing them happy.
I have completed a two-week, full-time Assistance Dogs Australia course on caring for assistance dogs, which has given me extra skills and knowledge on caring for pets and knowing their needs.
As a photographer I worked with pets in fairly high-pressure situations, having to get great photos within a short timeframe, which gave me more skills in handling animals.
I've also taken care of plants and gardens in a wide range of climates, from the Canadian prairies to sub-tropical Australia.
As a budding writer, I am flexible about where I work and therefore able to spend lots of time with the animals I take care of.
My hobbies include anything active in nature, especially hiking, swimming, and rock climbing. I also enjoy reading, playing guitar, and writing.
