Hello! We are a healthy and active couple based in Townsville, Queensland.
In 2023 we did a lap around Australia for a year and a half, and housesat along the way in every state and we had a complete ball! We met some amazing people and their pets and had an overwhelmingly positive experience. We sourced housesitting positions on a variety of different paid platforms including this site and also local housesitting pages on Facebook...
In 2025 we spent the first few months living and working in Darwin before heading down to NSW and SA for an extended trip to visit our older children and family who live in and around Sydney, the Lake Macquarie area, the NSW North Coast and Adelaide. In 2026 we will base ourselves in Darwin but would like to do trips back and forth to Townsville and Adelaide so we will be looking for suitable housesitting opportunities of between 2-4 weeks per stay.
A little about us! We are both semi retired and work casually when and where needed. We have 4 children between us, aged between 21 and 30. Our two eldest daughters are both qualified teachers in Adelaide, our son is doing an electrical apprenticeship and our youngest is now 21 and studying at Uni. Our first grandchild was born in Adelaide in December 2025 and we are over the moon!
We own our own home in Townsville as well as the house next door which is an investment property and both are currently tenanted until end of 2026.
We enjoy gardening, swimming, recreational fishing, watching films and documentaries, reading and trawling second hand and antique shops.
We have been long time pet owners and sadly we lost our adored 15 year old Lab Retriever named Eleanor (Ellie) in 2024 and it’s a sadness like no other. In Townsville we also have our 6 year old Russian Blue cat with big green eyes named Layla and she is very spoilt! She is cared for by our daughter while we are away.
As homeowners and pet owners ourselves we completely understand the importance of absolute trust when choosing someone to care for your home and pets. We are more than happy to provide multiple contact details for housesitting references and/or character references upon request.
While housesitting we have no issue looking after pets and meticulously following their usual routine nor undertaking any of the normal jobs required when caring for a home such as cleaning, gardening and general home maintenance including pool maintenance (we have an in ground salt water pool at home in Townsville).
We are both clean, tidy, responsible and respectful people who care for other people's homes and pets in much the same way that we care for our own home and pets, with much love and care! We pride ourselves on maintaining the homes we stay in at a very high standard and aim to leave each home immaculate upon handover. We travel with all our own toiletries and cleaning supplies including hand soap, toilet paper, dishwashing liquid and laundry detergent as well as tea and coffee making supplies and all our own fresh food and pantry items. We also have our own linen and towels if needed. We housesit on the basis that no money is exchanged by either party and only ask that sufficient pet food and other pet related items are provided for the duration of the housesit as well as space in the refrigerator and pantry to store our own supplies.
