“QC could be better, mine was missing hardware to mount the nose gear and had a streak of glue smeared on the left side of the fuse. The instructions would help if it were aligned with the hardware they included, especially when there were two iterations on how to bolt the front and aft fuse together. The recommended Hitec HS-7245MH servos didn't fit, they were a tad short in length and a tad tall to fit in the servo trays. Sad but luckily, I had spare digital HV servos from a crashed HSDJets F-16 and AeroFoam L-39 that fit perfectly. If you're not in hurry to get this up in the air, I would recommend spending a little extra time with the push rods and ball links or replace them with a better set to reduce the humming noise that digital servos make when there's a slight load on them from binding. I'll be replacing mine during the off season. This ARF does not come with lights but will work well with 5mm LEDs if you plan to drill out the center of each faux light to mount them. If you don't plan to use UniLights, the GT Power Aircraft Navigation Lighting System or equivalent will fit well but I will warn that you will be flying in silhouette if you fly out a bit far and your nav lights aren't bright enough, no matter what time of day it is.The CG instructions are on point and yes, the main tank and UAT must be empty. Mine flew slightly nose heavy but I only CG'd it upright and just needed 3 clicks on the elevator to level. Also, be sure to apply Loctite on the gear set screws and check the nose gear for any play before each flight, otherwise, you may find yourself drifting sideways or towards the pits during take-off.The main tank is good for at least +7 minutes of flight and flies well: https://youtu.be/7P2bASvquWEsi”

“Kit is built strong, but had some parts that did not fit well. Also, my kit was missing some control rods and screws that were supposed to be there. Biggest issue right now…the ventral fins are not in the box…trying to get motion to send some.”

“First off, this is my 2nd turbine-powered aircraft and my 1st Black Horse plane. That being said, this is a beautiful plane. The pictures really don't do her justice. The covering looks great so be careful to not end up with fingerprints all over the place. I was not careful. Starting out, everything came very well packaged and separated into separate bags associated with assembly stages. The assembly went very well. Also, having the gear, brakes, gear and brake controller, and fuel tank and accessories included really made this a great deal. I had read some complaints (maybe on older models) but my gear have been flawless. Even though the directions called for all mini-sized servos, I opted to go with full-sized Hi-tec 5645s all-around except for the nosewheel steering. I've used these servos before so I know what I'm getting with them. I had to cut all my openings to get them to fit but that was expected. I also chose to add a BoomaAR light kit. and some gear doors to the main gear struts. My plane is (now) powered with a SW80 and she flies great! I initially had a +60N engine in and she definitely felt lacking in power. With the 80N, it's so much better. After a spirited 5 min flight I am coming down with 1/2 tank of gas. She has a very wide flight envelope. This plane has no problem getting up on step yet, she can slow down to a crawl with flaps down and the right amount of power fed in. She performs very gentle sweeping turns and as a whole, she is very predictable. Landings are non-eventful except for being buttery smooth. I've currently got 8 flights on her and I am excited to get her back out to the field and to continue getting her all dialed in. Needless to say, I am very happy with my purchase. Good job Black Horse and MotionRC, you've got another satisfied customer.”

“Opened the box and was amazed on the quality. Looks well built. Parts and hardware were thought out and packaged seperatly. Note the the servos offered are not the correct size. Must use mini servos. Found some correct servos at a reasonable price on another site. Overall am very happy with this jet. Hope it fly's as good as it looks”

“Directions may say is 95% complete, but trust me, it’s not. Jet is very well built, no big complaints when it comes to quality. I would recommend ironing all sheet covering on entire jet before taking out into the sun to prevent bubbling. Jet comes without LED’s, so I ordered some from Unilight. I also had to Machine some stainless steel blocks to mount the wing spot lights due to the incorrect mounting points that would make the lights point outwards instead of straight. All-in-all, jet seems to be solid, and would be great as anyone’s first turbine due to reasonable price.”

“This is my third Blackhorse jet, first one from motion RC. I love the affordability, and the quality of such a beautiful jet. You will not be disappointed.”

“First off I was impressed with the packaging of the kit. The components were individually wrapped in plastic bags and placed in their cardboard boxes. Hardware kits were again in separate bags and easy to identify. The landing gear and controller look like they have been provided by Phoenix models for this kit. Setup and testing of the wheels was pretty straightforward, retraction was quiet and effortless. Brakes worked well as far as I could tell. The kit comes with a fuel tank and setup again was without any issues. Plan ahead if you want a separate vent fitting on the top of the tank as the stock setup has provisions in the cap with a bent up brass tube. The kit requires the use of mini servos in all locations so again plan ahead for this. Servo installation was again not a problem they are tucked inside the tail surfaces and require a bit of patience while installing them. One of the only things I was a little unhappy with were the pushrods and ball ends. They are are of a little less quality than the other kit components and I will be replacing them with a better part. Hinges are really nice and did not provide any issues during installation. Carbon fiber wing and tail tubes are provided and went in effortlessly. Wing and tail retention is accomplished using an aluminum bar that is clamped down using a sandwich type setup. Engine and exhaust pipe installation again no issues. The manual calls out for a turbine in the 8kg category. I am using a king tech 102G4+ in my jet and found the rails were right at the limits of the turbines mounting lugs. This may not be an issue for other engines with mounts that stick out a bit more. There seems to be plenty of space to mount batteries and electronics. Including a backer system or gyro. The covering on my jet was perfect. It uses a sticky back material and not a shrink type. There were no bubbles or imperfections in my covering. You will need to remove the covering from the wing root and covering the gear areas as well as a bit here and there covering wing and tail clamp locations. There are two strake assemblies at the rear of the fuselage that need to be glued on. They did not sit perfectly flat on the fuselage and needed a little bit of gray filler. The canopy hatch needs to be assembled with the pilot and sticks and then the clear material needs to be glued on. This was not difficult but I feel the factory could have done this for the user. Balancing the model will be of course be different for everyone based on the components used but they do include the rope and handle method which takes a lot of the guess work and measuring out of the process. Overall this model is built well and has very few issues at all to complain about. It has a very visible and attractive covering scheme and will definitely turn a few heads at the field. The last thing I will mention is the dedicated area for a smoke fluid tank right above the main fuel tank on the CG location of the aircraft. Plan on somewhere in the area of a 32oz smoke tank. I would definitely recommend this jet.”

“This kit is very nice for the price. This will be my everyday sporty jet. Be aware that you MUST use mini servos for all surfaces. I knew this buying the jet, but this could be a turn off for some. K85G4 for power. If you wanna know how it flies…? It’s a Viper, they fly good. If you are on the fence about this kit, buy it. Worth it. Take the time and build it right, and you will enjoy this jet.”
