“I’ve built/assembled many balsa kits over the years from seagull and phoenix and this was my first Black Horse kit. It is very much like a Phoenix model (I have a hunch black horse is made by Phoenix) which is a good thing because the kit is nice quality and built to be light weight for its size. All the balsa is laminated with carbon fiber which provides extra strength and looks good doing it. If you’ve never assembled a balsa ARF before just take your time and examine the photos and instructions thoroughly. I’m using a Saito 41t engine and it fits perfectly inside the cowl with no cutting and should provide more than adequate power and of course a great sound. The hardware is fine, didn’t feel any need to upgrade as I sometimes do. I added Dubro treaded air tires as I don’t like the hard foam tires that come with pretty much all kits. I was nearly finished and hoping to maiden next week when I discovered I was missing one wing strut bracket. I submitted a claim to Motion and they have sent out a new hardware package immediately via FedEx express. Awesome customer service Motion! I added landing lights on the wheel Spats using a 18mm x 7mm thick flashlight lens with LED light glued in behind it and wingtip nav lights. The lights I got from Dave’s RC electronics. The basic nav light 8mm kit. Tie into the flap channel on rx. Lights come on when rx powered up and landing lights come on when flaps deployed. The wheel Spats are plastic and kinda flimsy near the wheel openings. I laid down some fiberglass cloth and epoxy to reinforce them at the seams and thinnest areas. Using Hitec D645MW digital high voltage servos throughout. All in all a great looking model and value, and excellent support behind it from Motion!”

“I have owned another brand of Lysander and Black Horse version is very scale and high quality. Nice components and carbon fiber reinforced fuselage & attachment points. Only suggestion would be adding reinforcement to the strut connection on the wings.”

“Fantastic looking, a great flyer, and easy to take off. I put a DLE 35RA, which gives it plenty of power. I do split-S's, cuban 8's, no problem. Flies fantastic inverted. Great rudder turns and control for scale flying. The wing shape is very unique and stands out. The model came in with a cracked canopy and wheel fairing. Customer service replaced them without any hassle. Some issues: The instructions were subpar. Landing could be a little tricky, it's a little bouncy especially in a cross-wind. The glue holding the cowling mounts was garbage, need to fiberglass epoxy or JB weld them in. Things shake loose with engine vibration, check everything and secure first couple of flights.”

“The packaging was first rate, Motion delivered the product quickly with no shipping charge. The price was much less than comparable models. Blackhorse provided excellent hardware and the the model was well built. The directions are ok for experienced modelers requiring some interpretation. The aileron and elevator holes for the hinges were too large and had to be built-up. The elevator horn mount hole was on the top rather than bottom. Overall, I'm very happy with the model and cant wait to fly it.”
