I bought this 5.1mm pin retract unit to replace the 4.1mm pin unit in my FW A-4 Skyhawk. The strut length is shorter but the wheel is slightly taller. The overall length is exactly the same. The unit mounts in the A-4 mount box perfectly, but the tire hits the foam in the top of the wheel bay. I cut some foam out where the tire bumps into the foam at the top of the nosewheel retract bay. It also extends into the airstream a few millimeters more than the A-4 stock tire. The overall motor section of the retract is longer than the stock A-4 nose retract but it doesn't interfere with the installation. But the larger connecting pin makes the nose gear stronger. For grass ops, which I fly exclusively, this is the mod I recommend if you don't mind not being exactly scale. The retract pin is held in the retract unit with a C-clip at the rear of the trunnion to keep it from sliding out. I gave it 4 stars because you can buy just the strut if that's the only part you need. You have to buy the strut with the tire. A bumper of rubber behind the retract would also help to keep the retract strut from bending too far aft when the nosewheel hits a bump. I have added a 3D printed one on my A-4. It should be stock. The trailing link is a must for grass ops and I'm glad MRC/Freewing have realized this. Thanks MRC.

Works great as advertised. Be sure to move the pin out before you try to cycle the gear.
