“I bought 2 of these pins after a nose wheel first landing of my Avanti loosened the mounting point for the gear. I was actually pleased that the replacement pins are not heat treated like the original which didn't bend and is still like new even after that bad landing. I'm hoping that in the event of another bad landing the new pin will bend and save any structural damage to the aircraft.I am impressed that Freewing provided a hardened pin for the nose gear on this model as many of us have spent hours replacing the soft pins that are normally found on these RC aircraft, just from running on the grass.Before that hard landing this airplane had 8 flights on a bumpy grass strip with no harm to the gear.A good pilot should have no problem with the original Avanti setup.I only gave this a 4 star because it's not the same pin as original, even though it is what I wanted.”

“I would like to add one more comment to my recent assessment of this pin where I mentioned that the replacement is not the heat treated version.This is a heavier pin than normal for this size of airplane. ( At least from my experience.) At .200" of an inch I would think it will stand up well to grass operations even with out the apparent heat treating. This new pin may be harder than normal anyway, it's difficult to tell just by appearance.I will be testing it soon and will report back if there is a problem.Happy flying.”
