Terrible fitment of plastic supercharger hatches and canopy. Gear doors are a complete joke. Besides the terrible fitment: using push springs and yarn as closures??? Might have been great in the 70's. You can see they opted for fixed doors in on one model in the "overview" section. Why? Because they are unreliable and look like sh@t. Set aside an extra channel for flaps so you can reverse it to get them working. Zip ties are Nexa's preferred choice of securing the flap servos (not kidding).Don't expect a simple compression/slot retainer for your wing tip removal. Ball head allen key and midget hands will allow you to remove the wing tips so you can transport this thing home as you contemplate the huge waste of money.I probably would have flown this by now had I not been re-engineering outdated design/build features and supported by a manual that should be printed on 4 ply toilet paper so I could use it for something useful. The size of the aircraft is what I was looking for, the covering work (in general) is good. If nexa updated this model it would definitely be worth the price tag. However, knowing what I know now... I wouldn't pay over $200 NIB at a swap meet. This is a 10 yard plane. Looks good from 30 feet away.

Horrible from the start. You’d would think buying the recommended package for $1327 is the way to go. Wrong. Sent me 2 bladed props and 3 blade nose cones. Had to send back props, speed controls and motors for a refund. No help recommending motor, speed control and 3 blade props. The modelers thread on this was of help. The kit is poorly fitted, huge gaps in the landing gear doors, no instructions on how to make the doors functional. Plastic parts do not properly fit. The flaps were a nightmare of binding and slop. Had to take all that out and convert to split flaps each on its own servo. The most troublesome model I have ever built. Would not buy it again. I only hope it at least flies well.

Poor instructions. Flaps are difficult to get functional. The two bellcranks for each flap are cumbersome to work with and have a lot of extra movement. Servo placement is not well thought out. Adjustments to the flaps are difficult due to servo placement. A standard servo seems to work better that the recommended 4 mini’s. After much trial and effort I got one flap working but it still seems like it’s binding somewhere. No as smooth as I expected. We’ll see how the other flaps go. 3 stars for now. Still assembling. Can really judge performance till it flies so I gave it an Ok for now.

I bought this kit some time ago and have been working on it as my schedule permits. This is the second Nexa kit I have purchased ( first was the OV-10 Bronco) and what I have noticed is they both have engineering flaws which require a significant amount of work to correct and set up properly. The flap system is a joke on the P-38 and simply does not work. After much research online I decided to remove all the moving parts and rebuild it. Tremendous amount of unnecessary work and frustrating. The instructions are very poor and do not address several areas including the receiver location, wiring and recommended locations or set up. The canopy and top section of the aircraft is one piece and will not fit properly over the wing and require severe modifications which detracts from the look and final finish of the aircraft. The landing gear doors are difficult to install and the instructions suggest using string and springs which are not included. The upper wing of the aircraft is weathered and has the appearance of paint wearing off but no where else on the aircraft is there any other weathering, very odd.I chose to power the aircraft with electric power and the battery trays and hatches are unfortunately on the bottom of the aircraft which is a design flaw and requires flipping this large aircraft over each time.I am close to finishing this aircraft and I hope it will be a joy to fly like the OV-10 Bronco. A challenge but worth it in the end.

Overall reasonable quality plane but with some issues...- The wing is weathered but the rest of the plane isn’t.- The top half of the cockpit does not follow the shape of the wing which results in a gap.- Attaching the gear doors and make them move with the gear is challinging. The whole setup with bal-point pen springs and cotton thread to make it work is i.m.h.o. not a professional solution..- The play in the 4 flap sections is something that can’t be resolved.

Received my Nexa P-38 (= VQ Models?) a couple of days ago and to be honest I am a bit disapointed. The reason?- The wing is weathered but the rest of the plane isn’t.- The top half of the cockpit does not fit very well. A lot of tension and big gaps between the leading edge of the wing and the cockpit top half.- Attaching the gear doors and make them move with the gear is challinging. The whole setup with bal-point pen springs and cotton thread to make it work is i.m.h.o. not really scale like and professional.- The play in the 4 flap sections is something that can’t be resolved.
