“I have this plane in the original no flaps or hatch with mechanical retracts under the VQ models name with an ASP .91 4 stroke and it flys like a trainer. I did replace the CA hinges with Robart hinges. Love the plane and always get compliments on the way it looks and flies. Thinking about getting another one and putting a gasser on it. To Roger M. This is a true model with matching numbers and all to the real one that flies for the commemorative Airforce today and yes the pilot that flies it is a white man so they did have it right for the plane it is. Hope you all enjoy flying it as much as I do. Go fly'em when you can!”

“It’s the plane I wanted and the covering alone is worth the price. The wings could fit a little better and in my opinion, the instructions may be out of order but experienced modelers can figure it out. I didn’t use the fixed mains supplied, opting instead for electric retracts and I have to ding the model for the two blade spinner. I think a four blade would have been more scale. As soon as I get the trim for the gear bay doors, it’s going up. All in all I like the Nexa line. In addition to the P 51b, I have the Beechcraft Bonanza and the DHC Twin Otter (Nature Air edition). I had to wait for all three to come back in stock but they’re worth the wait.”

“I like this plane, but there are a couple things that bother me. The first thing is the size of the battery compartment hatch. It would have been a better idea to continue the hatch from the front to the end of the canopy. They only allow about 4” of hatch in the front. Getting a 6s 5000 man battery in is a hassle. This would also allow better access to the receiver installation as well as access to the 2 servos for rudder and elevator. Next is the retracts. Not scale at all. On the original real bird they had a rake to the front these are straight up and down and very short. Makes the plane look like a low rider while on the ground. The wheels are not the best the become deformed when sitting on the ground for a short period. Just through them away!. Also replace the hinges. Terrible for this size of plane a Robert pin hinge would work very well. First flight the rudder hinge separated using those they provided. I looked at the hinge to see if the CA saturated into the pocket and it did but only half way down. I would not trust them again.”

“This plane was straight forward to assemble. The pieces fit well with just some minor trimming. The tail wheel rod needed some beveling and the tail wheel bracket some reaming to make slipping the rod in place easier. The model goes together like the P47. Maiden flight was uneventful. The plane flies great. The plane ships with a white pilot so one of my friends painted him to make the plane look more authentic.”

“I am just finishing the build of this model. It went together very well without only minor difficulties. The biggest challenge for me was inserting the tailwheel wire into the housing. I found that it helped to bevel the edges of the wire so it would find the opening more easily. I also had to ream out the bushing. One complaint I have with this model is that it comes with a white pilot! The whole point of this aircraft is to pay tribute to the black airmen who flew in WWII. I took the plane over to a friend who is an excellent craftsman. He painted the pilot and gave him a moustache!”
