The ESC looked promising. It has all the features that one would want on it. It already has the 4mm bullets and a XT90 connector pre-installed which I really appreciated as I HATE soldering ESCs. Please note that I'm not a beginner and have been doing this a long time. I'm not above making mistakes and will admit when I do.It's all fine and dandy UNTIL...... you decide you want to run a 2S Avionics pack to test and run your avionics. I had the whole system finished in the plane, wired properly, etc. The little electric fan plugs in (with the correct polarity) to the ESC and then you run your wire from the ESC to the RX. All is normal. I powered on the system with the 2S pack and the plane went up in smoke. All of the wires are melted and destroyed from the 2S pack, through the switch and through the ESC. What I found out is that the electric fan on the ESC was trying to draw power through the 2S pack and the RX. I did not have the flight pack plugged in. The little electric fan drew way too much power from the 2S pack powering the avionics. WHY would the ESC fan pull power from that? More importantly, WHY ISN"T THIS DOCUMENTED ANYWHERE not to do this?? I'm very upset. I don't know if my $170 receiver is OK yet as I only had this one 2S pack. If it's not OK, it's even worse! At the very least, the ESC ($70), the Powerbox Digiswitch ($60), and the 2S pack ($30) must be replaced. I don't blame Motion R/C too much. They have always taken care of me so we shall see what they say but this is absolutely unacceptable. If I had wired things wrong or reversed polarity, that's on me. This is not on me at all. Everything was wired properly. I heard the ESC fan come on for a second and then it all went up in smoke. I don't even know where to go from here other than wait to hear from Motion R/C. Lesson learned: Don't plug in a 2S avionics pack to this ESC without removing the positive wire from the ESC to the RX. The fact none of this is documented is why I'm so frustrated and angry.
