“Overall I am very pleased with these. They work well on drinks bottles and on the washing label of my children's school uniform. They do not work so well on stretchy material such as socks and they have come off already on a couple of occasions, only two weeks into term. Also, I stuck the label on a part of the shoes where there is a lot of rubbing from the heel of the foot and the black ink has come off. In future I will stick them on the side instead. I would definitely buy these again despite the minor issues as they are much easier than sew or iron on labels.”

We are pleased to hear that when you use the labels according to the instructions they work very well. When using our labels in clothes, we don't advise customers to stick the labels anywhere apart from on the wash-care label as the adhesive reacts differently to different types of material, making it impossible to predict how they will work - stretchy socks will always be a problem! All our testing has been done on wash-care labels as this tends to be the same material in all garments. Our advice for use in shoes is always to stick them in the side, or under the tongue, to avoid the problem you outline, caused by friction. We look forward to receiving future orders from you!

“Finding that unless stuck to the washing instructions label that each label lasts 2-3 washes which doesn't make the labels very cost effective. Going to buy some fabric tags and see them instead.”

We're sorry to hear you aren't happy with your name labels, Anne, but it sounds like they are working exactly as they should! Our instructions, both on the website and on the packet containing the labels, state that they should be stuck to the wash-care label. This is where all the testing has been done - the adhesive reacts differently with different materials and it is impossible to test all combinations. Wash-care labels are generally made of the same material so this is where our labels are designed to be used. For items without a wash-care label, or for people who prefer their name labels to be stuck elsewhere on the garment, we have iron-on Trons.
