This was a great course. Be prepared to be immersed in many different scenarios, both in the woods and by the water. This is an intense course with a lot of information, but I now feel prepared to assess a situation and problem solve in the backcountry with a backpacking group or on the river with my friends. Barrett was a great lead instructor, along with several visiting instructors who offered varying perspectives, which added to the depth of the course. I felt supported in my learning and would recommend it.

I loved the WFR class I took with Stephan! He was able to cover a huge volume of material in 9 days while still making each subject engaging via hands-on scenarios and stories from his time as an EMT. What surprised me the most about my experience was how much I enjoyed getting to know my fellow classmates, and how much this affected the learning atmosphere. Everyone approached the class from wildly different backgrounds but each person had a ton of dedication, humility, and a desire to work together, which made the whole thing really, really fun. I'm sad it's over and would recommend this course to anyone looking to get WFR certified in the southeast.

Class left me feeling capable and with a firm understanding of wilderness first responder skills. Both instructors were excellent teachers with extensive knowledge/experience. I really enjoyed the class dynamic and getting to work together with my classmates.

Excellent instruction. Creative and instructive scenarios. Facility adequate for class, scenarios were also held in woodsy settings. Bathrooms were adequate and well stocked. Class size, 15, stretched the optimum.

I was highly impressed with the staff and accommodations at NOC! I had a small snafu with my room in basecamp upon arrival, and all involved were VERY quick to make things right. For the pricing, accommodations were simple but efficient. The instruction I received from Anthony in my wilderness first responder course was excellent. I would highly recommend the class and already have to several friends. Icing? The location. Being situated on the AT was just bonus to the coursework. Thanks so much!!

Instructor Randy Manuel was awesome- he kept the class engaged, was entertaining, and taught good information while also keeping it light. The facilities were clean and warm (took the course in January, so it was so nice to be in a room with heat). Overall I’d recommend NOC to anyone!

A great class with so much information that is well interspersed with practical training! Thanks for the class and the knowledge--and may I not have to use it but know that I can if I do.
