“I was really concerned about buying a mattress online that I had not tested in person, but a ton of research led me to Nolah and I decided to chance it. I'm predominantly a side sleeper and have had back and joint issues for quite a while. I assumed it was likely my age (55), my genetic joint disease (EDS), and the abuse I'd given my body over the years. My first night on the Nolah was pretty comfortable but I still assumed I would wake up having to let my joints slowly get in place before standing and afterwards before I walked. Surprisingly, my lower back, hips and knees were less sore and my morning ritual was lessened. That was the first night which was encouraging. I was also concerned about this mattress making me hot as other ones of this type of construction are known to do. I was pleasantly surprised that was not the case for me. I'd read from other reviews that you might have to give yourself some time getting used to this mattress if your old one didn't provide proper support, and I've found that to be true as well. My lower back and joints have had to get used to being in the PROPER position and alignment, where some days I would wake up a little sore in my lower back, but now after about a month my back is much better. I barely have to sit and let my body get in place before standing and my mobility seems better. Morning pain is all but gone, amazingly. The support on my pressure points is truly a gift. I knew my old mattress was losing support, but it never gave me what my Nolah is doing for me now. I'd had YEARS of morning pain, but getting out of bed now is not a huge ordeal and I have so much more mobility due to a good night's rest and the support this mattress is giving me. Very happy with this purchase!
As far as the shopping experience, the mattress itself was sent very quickly, even in the midst of this pandemic, within 5 days I think. It comes rolled up like a burrito and is a bit heavy. Set it on your boxspring or platform before you attempt to open it as it will immediately begin to expand as soon as you open it. Mine expanded to full size pretty quickly although I still waited the recommended time before I put on my bedding (that doesn't mean I didn't test it before then, lol)
My particular order came with a set of Nolah pillows, but they took much longer to arrive. Customer service was very responsive when I reached out as to the status. I eventually ordered a mattress cover, but the one I wanted was on a long back order so customer service reached out and offered a slightly different one so I wouldn't have to wait. Again, this is during the middle of this pandemic so I can't fault anyone here.
I did not get the extended warranty nor did I want to pay for the option to have the very long testing period in order to return the mattress if I wasn't satisfied. I assumed that with my research this mattress was going to work. In hindsight, I maybe should have gone with the extended warranty as it covers things like burns, stains, tears, rips, and possible animal accidents. The waterproof mattress cover will help with fluids, but that's about it. Nolah does give you about a week to change your mind on the extended warranty and add it. Again, kinda wish I'd done that just because you never know!
I did recently purchase an adjustable platform from another vendor that mimics the same head and leg adjustments that the Nolah version has. It has made my mattress feel firmer, which was a concern at first, but I woke up with even better results. The mattress bends fine for the head adjustment, but is a little off for the legs (it might be how I've set it up, but the mattress at the legs will just rise up and not really bend with the platform).
I would recommend a platform (adjustable or not) with this over a box spring.

“I knew I would be purchasing a bed in a box. This was for sure. But I needed to do much research because I was insistent on getting it right the first time. I am a petite person who mostly sleeps on her side. So,all info I could find online pointed me towards this mattress. I dont like overly firm, I just dont. Shipping was quick and easy. The base price for this mattress was good too, compared to the competitors. And the two free pillows I received are so great to use with my pillow shams. They arent my cup of tea for sleeping on but they are really good for the shams and helps to complete the bed set. Im also using a box spring, not necessary but Im not into the platform thing. Overall super happy with this purchase. Make sure to do lots of research to be sure that the features and benefits are a good fit.”

“I don't hate it, I don't love it. I wanted something more firm than the pillowtopped mattress I've slept on for a few years before--however, I'm hoping the Nolah will soften a bit over time. Otherwise I may end up getting like a gel topper.”
