Paddle Smarter not Harder!

Traditional paddle designs create unnecessary resistance, leading to fatigue, strain, and inefficient strokes. FlowForce Technology changes that. By integrating precision-engineered slits into the blade, FlowForce allows water to move through the paddle in a controlled way—reducing drag, improving stability, and maximising efficiency. The result? Smoother strokes, less effort, and more time enjoying the water.

A great paddle, in a few words I'll describe it light and smooth.

I knew the FLOWFORCE 2-piece paddle was the one for me from the very first few strokes of trying out a demo paddle. It’s super light, smooth and effortless to paddle with and it genuinely feels like you’re at one with the paddle, with your energy flowing along with the water. Even more important for a 60-something novice racer, is that I feel less strain on my body paddling with it and can paddle for longer without tiring out- that’s a huge bonus for distance races and helps keep me on the water injury free. In fact, I was over the moon to have got a 3rd place in the women’s leisure category at my first race using the FLOWFORCE which was the last distance race of the season in 2025! I’m looking forward to doing more races with my trusty FLOWFORCE in 2026! If you get an opportunity to try out a demo paddle take it and see for yourself. It’s a joy to paddle with and has made such a difference to my paddling.

As soon as I started to paddle I realised this was something special and I knew after a few minutes if trying a medium 2-Piece paddle that I was going to buy one! It's so light it feels effortless with each stroke. I was looking for an upgrade and I've found it. I love everything about this paddle, the way it feels in my hand and the sensation of the blade when it glides. My partner gets jealous, he says I'd rather spend time with my paddle these days and it's probably true. Ha ha! I look forward to each adventure and I've signed up for my first race in 2026.

I was thinking of upgrading my paddle and tried another well known brand but didn’t love it so couldn’t justify it. A friend at our local SUP social was demoing an Oscar paddle so got to have a little try and fell instantly in love. I bought Ozzie (my Oscar paddle) and haven’t stopped using him since. It is an absolute dream. I have MS and it has helped so much with my energy levels as the paddle is so light and less drag. I love the smaller grip too so no longer get blisters. Best decision ever! Already 3 of our club have an Oscar paddle with more interested.

I absolutely LOVE this paddle! I bought my paddle earlier in the year and thought I would spend time with it before writing a review. I’m lucky enough to paddle on seas, lakes, canals and rivers, and I’ve been paddleboarding for three years now so although by no means excellent I’m fairly proficient. And if, like me, you are a paddle-for-pleasure without a competitive bone in your body, you can probably relate. I’m 5’6”, about 8 ½ stone and getting on a bit (wrong side of 60), and things are starting to seize up so I felt compelled to invest in a set of wheels and a full carbon paddle. I spent quite a while researching what I wanted from the paddle, with weight and portability being my main stipulations. My modes of transport are foot, car, train and boat so the paddle needed to be manageable and storable. A three-piece added extra weight but was easier to carry, and a one-piece was just too fussy for me, so I plumped for a two-piece. My previous paddle was a two-piece semi-carbon Red. I looked at several different makes; the Fatstick and Red being amongst them as better-known brands. But the innovative design and lightweight Oscar paddle really caught my attention. After a couple of months or so of debating (which may have included a spreadsheet!) I decided on the Oscar Propulsion paddle. I have not been disappointed. My partner said he immediately noticed a change in my posture and speed; he said I looked much more comfortable altogether. The amount of effort involved especially at sea was lessened, and on long paddles the strain on my wrists, shoulders and arms in particular was noticeably lessened. The design cuts through the water with little effort and I go further and faster with each stroke than I used to yet I am expending less energy. At first it felt a little odd; I was so used to pushing hard through the stroke, but the combination of weight, feel and blade design was easy to acclimatise to. My partner watches me from the boat, and he commented immediately on the difference in my stance and appearance on the board. As an example, on my first excursion on the boat with my new paddle I got caught out at Jura; I’d paddled ashore to visit the Community shop and got a phone call from my partner to say the wind had unexpectedly picked up. With a load of shopping on my board adding to the weight and instability I was initially worried about getting back to the boat, but it was not a problem with the Oscar FlowForce paddle. It cut through the waves with ease and turned what could have been a tricky paddle into actually quite an enjoyable challenge. This helped enormously with my confidence in the paddle and throughout the year my enjoyment has only increased. One week in August I was lucky enough to do several paddles along the coastlines of some of the Outer and Inner Hebrides isles; I spent hours on the water most days with no strains or excess tiredness that I would have expected from previous experience. At one point I did have to use the paddle to dissuade a particularly large bull seal from getting too close – I can report it also worked excellently for this! I also used the blade as an occasional size reference measurement for jellyfish reporting to the Marine Conservation Society (they use the reports for monitoring jellyfish populations) – worth doing btw! To sum up, the paddle has been a real pleasure to use and made a difference to my paddling enjoyment; I’ve been on several long paddles as well as plentiful short and medium ones and not once have I regretted my choice. I highly recommend the investment.

Using this paddle certainly reduces strain and tiredness in the shoulders. It feels nice in the water and is now my go-to paddle.

Love this paddle. The problem I have with it, is that everytime I use a traditional paddle - even a really good light carbon one - I miss the stability that the FlowForce technology provides. The Ocean Propulsion paddle grips the water like no other paddle. Those little slits in it make a huge difference as to how the stroke feels. I can't recommend it more highly.

I’ve had my paddle for 6 weeks now and absolutely love it. At first you can’t believe you can get the same power as a traditional paddle as it just cuts through the water so easily. All I can say is the science works! I no longer have any arm or shoulder ache after a paddle which means I can paddle more often! The grip on this paddle is also worth a mention as the carbon shaft is nice and grippy so no slip at all. I’m a recreational 55 year old paddler and I’d definitely recommend it!
