It had been over 60 years since I purchased any 22 Short Ammo. Why would I buy them now? I got into Subsonic ammo using CCI Quiet-22. The Specs are 40 Grain un-plated Round nose Lead Bullets at 710 (Feet Per Second) FPS. I like the Quiet-22 but was a little disappointed with performance. By accident when I was searching for something just a little hotter, the Aquila Super Extra Short popped up in the results. It uses a 29 Grain Round Nose Lead Bullet that is Copper Plated and had an impressive 1095 FPS Velocity. The report for the Aguila 22 Short is a little louder than the Quiet-22 but since it is 30 FPS below the Speed of Sound (1125) it is still classified as a Subsonic Round and does not have the classic 'Crack' sound of the 22 LR from breaking the sound barrier. I believe you should give these a try based on results and not on the 'Short' name. In my Henry Golden Boy the Tube holds 14 of the Quiet-22 and 20 of the Aquila 22 Shorts. Like the Legend, "Load on Sunday and shoot all week".
