“Having used Federal Matchking exclusively to get started in long range shooting, the ammo has allowed me to work on rifle, optics and bench technique, while being very consistent within the same manufacturing lots. There are still limits. At anything short of 500 yards, there appears to be little difference between Matchking and my fellow handloading competitors. But with Matchking I can't beat the reloaders at 600 yards plus. It's close enough that I will still work on my technique and not blame the ammo, but I have my suspicions. My impression is that 2-3 rounds out of every 60 give me unpredictable results, even when every other round seems dialed in great. Subjective "flyer" talk I know, but it does so well most of the time, it's still a surprise. Even so, would still return to Matchking before anything else in .308 to break in a new setup, and recommend it to anyone who is not reloading but wants to compete.”
