“I have tried the Adaptil calm collar over two weeks on my Maltease Shitzu who gets scared easily with loud sounds such as thunderstorms and at times when left alone shows some signs of anxiety. I was very curious on how this product would go on my timid dog and I have seen some improvement in her behavior but not a cure all. During a storm she was scared shaking but helped ease/shorten the shaking episode using this collar. The product was easy to use, had no overpowering scent and did not leave any residue when touching. The price may turn many off this product but can give you piece of mind that you are helping your pet staying calmer during scary situations.

“I have a large dog that gets quite anxious with loud noise. Our neighbours are renovating their house and with the building recently, our dog has been running from room to room trying to hide. She was constantly dribbling and panting as well. When I introduced this collar she calmed down within a day and was able to stay calm enough to let herself settle (wasnt constantly up and down trying to hide). She also stopped dribbling and is more confident in her body language throughout the day. I definitely recommend this product!

“We have our dog Junno who is very timid for someone so big (Rottweiler) and this collar has helped to put her in a better state.
She was super scared of loud noises, cars and unfamiliar people. She cowers a lot of the time and hides when simple things like a spoon accidentally hitting her dog bowl when its feeding time makes noise but Ive noticed this collar has helped with that.
She also now comes to the back door when she hears different voices when she would basically run and hide before!
Junno has gotten better at walking and enjoys her daily walk now - I no longer have to carry her home if a car comes speeding past us unexpectedly!

“Ive been using this product for nearly 3 weeks now and the product has made my rather anxious dog a little calmer with visitors. She doesnt seem to get so wound up or jump on people as much as she did which is good, but we also had some very high stress situations for her including a trip to the vet for her annual vaccination and several thunderstorms and the collar did not have any effect whatsoever - she was still terrified and difficult at the vets (the pheromone scent did not outweigh the smell of other animals in pain or scared) and needed a lot of personal calming, and during the thunderstorms hid under the bed and paced with the usual anxiety. Maybe it would have been better with a thundershirt as suggested, but given the price, I dont think this will help a dog who is very upset or tense. That said, she gets left in the yard during the day and seemed to be a bit more relaxed when we came home, so perhaps the collar helped with that as well. It was certainly easy to put on, and the thin plastic fit snugly under her own walking collar, without causing any discomfort or issues, and was easy to take off and put back on again when we washed her. All in all, if youve got a very mildly anxious dog that you want to settle this could help, but definitely not to be used when the dog is in distress and is certainly no replacement for a tranquiliser.

“My dog, a Cattle Collie, is nervous by trait. She cowers when cars go by. She gets upset when visitors come. She doesnt get on with other dogs well. And she is a nervous wreck in storms and at the vets. Otherwise shes relaxed and mellow! I tested all of these things with the collar, starting with her number one source of anxiety - the vet, as she was due her annual vaccinations. The collar, which I had had on her for only a few days, was completely ineffectual. Perhaps the scent of fear from other animals at the vet overwhelmed the pheromones in the collar. Or perhaps the learned response was just too intense for anything new to overcome it. A few days later we had a major thunderstorm and once again, I didnt see results from the collar. My poor doggie hid under the bed. She paced. She cried and was only comforted by a lot of personal attention and close cuddling until the storm passed. Those were the big ones for her and I really saw no impact. However, we did have lots of visitors and I noticed that she settled much quicker, and was not as excited as usual by those visits. We even had a small dog come to visit and she didnt seem to mind, so maybe the collar helped with those low-level types of anxiety and kept her more on an even keel. I found her a bit easier to walk too - and she wasnt quite so jumpy when cars passed. Id definitely consider using such a collar for trips away or for high anxiety times like time alone while were at work or if we go on holiday and get a dog sitter but not sure it would have enough of an impact to justify the cost. On the upside, the collar was very easy to put on even when she was restless and moving about - it just slips over the head and tightens nicely - much easier to put on than her harness for example, and stays in place snugly without any tightening or discomfort to her. The thin band fits neatly under her normal collar and doesnt interfere with anything - we just removed it to wash her and popped it back on again. I suspect it would be better for a less nervy dog than mine, and could help as suggested with separation anxiety. However, if you have a highly anxious dog like mine, it is unlikely that the pheromones will impact on big, deep-seated fears like the vet, thunderstorms, or fireworks.”
“Our 9 year old Lab Cross is petrified of storms.. He starts pacing and panting about an hour before it actually gets to us! As soon as he started displaying his usual anxious behaviour I put the collar on... I did notice that he didnt progress to the drooling and shaking stage as quickly as usual, but the collar didnt stop him from getting to his usual state. Overall there wasnt enough of an effect that I would purchase the collar for storm-relaxed anxiety relief. *Please note I was gifted a product sample to trial”
“My puppy cries for half the night and I wanted to try this to see if it would work and it had helped about %80 with her behavior she had also stopped barking as much when she is playing while wearing it which is a bonus. I would recommend giving it a go.”
