“Been buying these for the last year and just put a new one in for the winter.Saves me money.Been buying these for sometime this is the (7)time and this time the box was ripped because it was not in another box.It was ripped and spending over 40.00 for it.It should be box right!!!”
“Bought this as a replacement for ones purchased last year. I am happy that I made the switch to this filter system last year. It made replacing the element quick and clean. I think the furnace/air conditioning puts out a little more air and has remove more dust from the air in the process. I will be buying again next year at the routine replacement interval.”
“While I'm stuck using this higher priced filter, I am noticing that there are less and less sinus infections in my family since using this. The first filter filled fairly fast, but it was a brand new furnace in an old house with old ducting. Each subsequent filter is less filled with dog hair and dust, meaning that my house has cleaner and cleaner air. The price point for these would be more attractive if it was lower, but so far, it's one of the lowest prices I've seen. It's upsetting that none of the local shops carry them in stock, meaning that the internet is the only way for me to get them.Clean air trumps money, though...right?”
“This served as our yearly furnace filter replacement. So far, so good. We had originally had the "regular" quality but upgraded to this one because (a) the manual said it was compatible and (b) it offers greater allergen protection for only a few dollars more. I'm not a big fan of the way these "clip in" on the top and bottom and open up like an accordion (I worry that I'll find it unhooked and collapsed at the bottom of the tray), but so far that has not been an issue. Solid product.”
“As an engineer I've had experience with air filters. Without special sealing techniques such as taping it in place to prevent dirty air bypassing the filter, this one is very good. The long ends allow the filter to be crushed tightly in place and provide a proper seal. Inspection of mine showed no dust bypassing.Instructions to replace it range from every 6 to 18 months but I do when it has excessive dirt accumulation which is a judgement call. So how much is excessive? Contractors tell me their's are replaced when the upstream filter surface is gray which in my case was in 4 months. Some said when their wives complain of excessive dust during housecleaning. I held off until 6 months when a surface buildup developed (1/16"). Without engineering studies this is the method most choose. With pets it will be sooner. These definitely filter allergens in my experience. My HVAC runs summer and winter and the greatest benefit for me is the summer. When I step outside my nose will start running immediately. Returning inside a well sealed house, almost immediate relief.I think replacing a filter 2 to 3 times a year is expensive, however, they provide relief.”
“I would give it a 5 star review but can't for 2 reasons - first, the sizing info. is VERY misleading. The Aprilaire 410 (different seller) shows this filter is 20x25 and then this seller shows,in the description, the size of 30 x 5 x 5. That is probably correct for the filter "as packaged" since it collapses (a clever idea by the way) but most people, when looking for sizing information on a filter, are looking for the size "as used". Even though I knew my unit took a 410 or 413 Aprilaire filter I was hesitant to purchase either until after my question was answered. It would do both sellers well to change (or at least clarify) the sizing info. because if you read all of the questions, there seems to be a lot of confusion with such a small and seemingly simple detail. The other reason I can't give a 5 star review is I just installed it so only time will tell if this is a good filter and will last the year recommended time frame. The recommended time frame is just that, a recommendation, it all depends on how dirty the return air is. Given that this is a MERV 13 rather than a MERV 10, I figure it will load more quickly. Now sure that I needed that high of a rating but given the minimal price difference between the 10 and 13, I thought I'd try it. I am a little concerned about the static pressure drop being higher with the 13 - possibly increase energy costs slightly but there's always a trade off.”
