“I recently replaced my aging Basement Watchdog backup sump pump with this water powered Liberty Pump. I grew very tired and annoyed from the Basement Watchdog's alarm calls for battery problems ( that mostly happen in the middle of the night) and for chewing up $180 batteries in less than 2 years. I hired a local plumber to do the installation and was pleased to learn that he had a positive opinion of Liberty Pumps' overall product quality. If you're handy with plumbing you could probably install yourself. After living for 20 years in a home with a semi-finished basement I've come to believe that this water powered back-up pump beats all the electronic / battery back-ups by a country mile for shear simplicity of function. I do question the installation instruction that says trip float should be installed a full 1 foot above primary pump trip point. I prefer it trip sooner with rising water and a failed primary pump. It's so new that it's not been called on to do its work yet in a true back-up emergency but I tested it and and am happy to go to bed at night knowing it's there and I won't be hearing the Basement Watchdog "Beep-beep-beep Help Me! " alarm disturbing my sleep any more. Only offering a 4 star review for now because it is new and not been called up for service yet but have full confidence it will rise to the occasion when needed.”
“I have three pumps in my basin. The primary is down low, the first backup in a foot above it, and this one is at the top as a last resort. I plugged the inlet and filled the basin and this pump worked like a charm. I piped it out with a separate line and I have it discharging 2 feet from the house into a French drain. I can go on vacation and not worry about a power outage! Get it.”
“This is a bad mammer jammer! when I plumbed this in I added a water valve to add water to the crock anytime I wanted to test both pumps. I just run water, make sure sump works. Then unplug sump and run water, make sure aqua pump works. I do this every month. I used copper 3/4" pipe right into the shark bite. 1 1/2" pvc for the discharge.I used the 2x4 to support the pump as it would not get close enough to the sump to clamp it. It comes with a 2x4 template so you can make your cuts.”
