The pump itself is easy to install but you have to get the 3/4" water line there and run out a separate 1 1/2" drain pipe which are the more difficult parts. Since this hooks to your water system you should not drain it into sewer or storm drains as that would be code violation as it could lead to cross contamination of water supply. Also requires backflow preventer and water hammer preventer devices on water line. Works great I test it and it pumped out the water almost as fast as my electric submersible pump. Real quiet though so you probably want an alarm sensor that would fire if water level gets high enough to turn it on or you could end up with big water bill. Uses 1 gallon of water to pump out two gallons of sump water.

This is a great product , But they are pricing themselves out of the market. They have increased price $40 within the past year.

The gallons per minute is ultimately what has kept me from purchasing one of these for years. It wasn't until my primary sump failed during a thunderstorm that I quickly realized bailing by hand using a bucket was no way to even come close to keeping up in the event of a pump failure in a situation like that.I then resorted to a battery powered backup pump kit from a well known hardware store which was great as it came with a 3 year warranty! But I soon realized just one year and 3 months later the backup pump is not made the same as the primary and the prop for the pump sits very flush with the bottom of the unit, which inevitably will corrode over time, really making the warranty useless in my eyes. After all, what good is a backup pump that doesn't work if it isn't used for a year?In steps this Liberty Sump Jet! I do know how to plumb with copper well, but this was my first time with pex tubing. As long as the pex tubing is cut straight, sharkbite quick connectors are NO PROBLEM at all!I ran a new cold water line from the 3/4" section in my basement over to the corner where my sump pit is and ran it down the wall with a 90 degree elbow and tee'd that off to a spigot so I can fill my pit for testing with city water at any time. (A great thinking-ahead-feature on my part as I've had so many failures over the years!) at the lower end near the floor I sweat'd on a copper barb for the pex fittings from there into the sump water line inlet.Ultimately for me, my biggest obstacle was fitting the sump jet into my pit itself, just underneath my Radon Air Tight Sump Dome I had purchase for radon mitigation. I ended up using the convenient 4 holes in the sump jet with some longer threaded bolts with lock washers and nuts on the bottom side. I cut a small slice of 3" PVC to use as a support spacer between the top of the sump jet and the bottom of the sump lid, so I could keep the sump jet just a little bit lower and not entirely flush on the bottom of my sump dome lid for my needs. This was great! Hidden out of sight. I followed the instructions and installed a reliable double backflow prevention valve to keep the sump water from back flowing into our home water supply. The pex quick connect was perfect on the sump jet for accepting the blue pex tubing and I liked it so much I got another to use in case I ever need to remove the water feed from the sump jet for any sump pump maintenance. I did NOT install just a "Y" PVC adapter as I didn't want any water flow force from my primary sump pump to be able to back feed to the sump jet which I feel could slow down it's efficiency. Again, this was done according to the instructions. A full separate discharge line out the back of my home. I just have 2 sump hoses leaving my home now instead of one and they are next to each other.Slowly turning on the shutoff valve that I installed within 6 feet of the sump jet is handy and allowed me to allow water to flow to the sump jet while removing as much air as I could before any testing as the company suggests.I only heard one short air pocket/thunk noise as I filled the sump pit for a full test. Surprisingly it didn't take long at all to lower the level which will keep my basement dry for many years to come! Feels very solid in construction and runs quiet itself, although I can hear the water itself running through the copper plumbing. I have not yet installed a water hammer as suggested, but plan to do as soon as I am able to.Now time will tell, but my nerves are taking a much needed rest already, which I cannot put a price on.Thanks so much for a great quality product!

I work for a water supply co. and had a high bill work order. The customer had a bill for $600!! Her primary pump had failed and she didn't know. The backup pump had been doing all the work during a month where we had lots of rain. These pumps are a great backup, but they use allot of water. Please get the model with the alarm.

Seems very high-quality. Have not had to use it and hope that I never have to either.

What a great find. I heard about water driven back up sumps when in Ohio last winter. If you travel a lot and you have valuables in your basement subject to an overflow of water from your sump, then this is a must. It is gravity fed from your main water line, so even when your house power shoots craps for longer than 8 hours, this will work (as compared to a battery driven back up where the battery will just run out of juice and your basement will flood). I would buy another in a New York minute. Unless you are plumber or incredibly handy, I would highly recommend a professional install due to the cut into your main water line.
