I'm a licensed plumber in Ohio, I would definitely recommend this product over a battery back up sump. Please do not install into existing sump discharge line like the other pictures and reviews posted here. It says in directions to install sj-10 with its own discharge line exiting house. If you tie into existing sump discharge line you run the high risk of flooding your house with the city water pressure. Great product, but please follow directions.

I installed this after we experienced an abnormally high amount of rain during the spring of 2015. My primary sump was able to keep up, but I was concerned with possible power outages or if my primary pump failed.Installation was a breeze using SharkBite adapters and PEX pipe. The only tedious part of this task was attaching the pump to the lid of my sump pit. My goal was to create a complete seal once I placed the assembly into the pit. This is because I have a radon mitigation system that requires a sealed sump pit. To complete this task, I needed to remove the float assembly and slide the sump pit lid onto this pump. I then replaced the float assembly, creating one unit that included this pump and my sump pump lid.It has been nearly six months since I have installed this. It has not needed to kick on, but I test it every other month to verify its operation. Peace of mind is a wonderful thing.

This can save the day. While this is not as powerful unit as a regular sump pump it works when your other one doesn't. Electric sump pumps can be finicky and need electricity but this one works off water flow and pressure and can save the day when your power is out or your switch goes bad. Gives me piece of mind! After coming home to water in the basement a couple of times, I rest a little easier when I am gone and its storming. It can be installed by a home owner but you do need some skills and patience. Make sure and follow instructions if you want it to work efficiently.

A hefty product, no doubt, but a little vague on directions which is why 4 stars and not 5 stars. I had to visit one website (SharkBite) and call Liberty 800 SUpport to figure out what the Manual was talking about on a couple points. All in all, an easy installation and it works as advertised so far. This replaces a cheaper make and model from another company that leaked after a month.

Installation was a chore which requires a good amount of planning and buying adapters, but once you have everything, it works really well. I believe installation is possible for anybody that is relatively handy. I use it as a backup sump pump in case the first one goes out or the power goes out. I recommend using Sharkbite products for push-to-fit installation. Also, make sure you use a check valve, or back flow preventer, between the main water line and this product to prevent back flow into the city water supply.

I cannot say enough good things about this pump. Above all it's the piece of mind you have when the lights go out and the water is flowing in that you don't have to worry about your basement flooding.I installed a fill line right off the main feed line (the valve with the red handle in the picture) so I can test the pump every once in a while. I plan on testing it once a year, which has ended up being used a lot to show my friends and family how well this cool little pump works.

Tested it out during a power outage and it worked well. Easy installation.
