“I ordered this ice maker outlet box to replace a leaking multi-turn box that was originally installed when the house was built thirty-five years ago. During the last few replacements of the ice maker filter, I noticed that the stem was oozing water. I made some adjustments to the packing nut, which temporarily stopped the leaking. However, I wasn't confident that the valve would remain reliable in the future.I was drawn to this product for several reasons:First, this outlet box features a 1/2-inch PEX-B compression fitting for the water inlet. This is important because I wanted to transition from copper to PEX, and all my equipment is designed for PEX-B.Second, this outlet box includes a 1/4-turn ball valve instead of a multi-turn valve. I prefer 1/4-turn ball valves because I've had repeated issues with multi-turn valves in the past.Third, this outlet box complies with NSF 61-G requirements (Portable Water Standard), which certifies that the product meets lead-free and leachate standards for contaminants. Finally, the dimensions of the outlet box fit perfectly within the opening between the wall studs.Overall, I am completely satisfied with this ice maker outlet box and have not encountered any issues. Everything in the product description has proven to be accurate, and I believe that others interested in this product will have the same positive experience as I did.”
“I like having these boxes for the icemaker in our fridge. Even though it's hidden behind the fridge, to me, it's just a cleaner install, and the access to a quick shutoff in case the line malfunctions and leaks is nice. This was an easy crimp-on pex install, taking only a few minutes. Simple to cut into existing drywall and the faceplate will cover any miscuts well. On off value is an easy quarter turn. Hard to go wrong with this product.”
“We renovated our 1950s ranch and the plumbing was completly replaced with PEX B. As we renovated our kitchen we added this shut off behind the fridge so now we can easily connect the water line when we slide in our new fridge. No more using those saddle valves on the basement water line. We can have everything on and isolate the fridge water line in the kitchen.”
“The is perfect in all respects for my project. It is an easy install [quick and no leaks] and it works well. The housing is heavier duty than I imagined it would be [it's nice to be pleasantly surprised]. All factors considered, I'm happy with my choice and the value [that = cost + installation time and materials].”
