“I purchased two of these units, for the same house. I've installed Honeywell wifi thermostats and they have all worked well. This is a pro model, so set up is more complex, and unfortunately the manual is not very useful at guiding you through many of the set up options (pro's are just supposed to know I guess), and nothing on Honeywell's website, again it is for pro's. I installed one on a system that includes a heat pump and gas back up, the only issue was the reversing valve option, I took the default and it was wring, so on heat I got AC, easy enough to change in programming. The next day I installed the other one on another floor of the house. When powered up the screen was blank other than the backlight. As a test I swapped it with the working unit and had the same result, the defective display remained defective even when plugged into the working base. The plumbingsupplyandmore warranty is 30 days, and I'm passed that, so no recourse there. It has a 5 year warranty from Honeywell when professionally installed. I called Honeywell and they said, nicely, "not covered it's a pro unit". They offered me a 20% discount code for purchase on their site.Bottom line, I knew this was a pro unit and my own fault for not installing within the 30 day window, but if it fails 31 days after purchase, you are on your own.Other than that, it's a good thermostat with one strange glitch, the outside air temp sensor reading is now inaccurate, while on the old stat is was accurate, it reads between 5 and 10 degrees lower than actual. I'm assuming it's an incompatibility between stat and senor, as the system is not a Honeywell. That temp sensor drives some of the function such as the switch over to back up heat, so it is critical. After an email exchange and a call with Honeywell, they eventually agreed to replace the defective unit with the non-pro version, the "color" model, which I accepted. Have not yet received it, will follow up when I do.”
“Love this thermostat, and the iphone app controls. I have 4 of these in two houses and can check on and control the heat/cool settings from anywhere. I rate the product 5 stars, but the supplier lost a star because the thermostat had obviously been returned by someone and re-packaged. I installed it because of the hassles of returning it. Happy that it functioned perfectly. When I buy something listed as new, I expect to be the first owner.”
“Have 3 installed between home and rental unit. Great functionality, wifi capabilities. Touchscreen on one unit defective after less than two years, no longer responding to touch commands. Honeywell would not warrant directly although well within warranty period ... only thru installer who wanted $270 to make the trip to replace under warranty, even though wiring pin-out was identical and easy to configure. Ordered and paid for replacement on plumbingsupplyandmore, but touch screen on new replacement also defective. I contacted another licensed installer who verified the replacement was defective, and took my original unit to a distributor who replaced the original unit under warranty. They verified that one worked before the installer left the distributor. Now installed and working fine, but only after original and first replacement were found defective, and after paying installer to make the trip to validate that I was not missing something.”
“This thermostat was favored by a young pup in the HVAC business in Virginia . In his you tube video he said it was his favorite. So I gave it a try. After watching the video a couple times I was able to program it and connect it to the wifii and have it on my total connect comfort app on my phone. I was able to show my wife how to use it without the situation getting turned up to 11. Lots of settings and options if you want to deep dive. Its an older model but it works for us.”
