“Well, it took 20+ years but my shower head started dripping after I shut it off. Initially I could move the handle slightly and it would stop but teat "trick" only worked for a month or so. I decided if I was going to actually go to the trouble of shutting off water and dismantle the valve I was going to use a genuine Moen cartridge as there are aftermarket items available for slightly less money. After pulling the old, worn cartridge out of the valve (yes, they are often stuck and require a bit of force and a removal tool) I noticed the new cartridge had one less rubber "O" ring. I called Moen and they confirmed the new part was correct and came with no O-ring on the back side of the cartridge. I was also informed Moen would have supplied the cartridge free under warranty. I knew of this possibility but unsure of time required for delivery so went ahead and purchased the replacement. The advice given must have been true as the new cartridge easily installed, read the detailed instructions, with no leaks or drips. The hardest part of the whole job was removing the stuck handle that was corroded to the adapter after 20 years.”
“Not easy to get the old one out, but this one installed ok after a couple try's. But it works great. The original never worked this well when it was new.”
“I wish I had read the reviews on plumbingsupplyandmore before I bought this product a second time.1. The lifetime warranty does work and if you are the original owner Moen will replace the cartridge for you for free.2. The longer you let a finicky faucet go the tougher it will be to pull out the old one. The extractor tool will be needed and will help. The Danco extractor is cheaper and works fine.3. Note the position of the old parts (especially the brass tube) when you pull out the old cartridge and DO NOT listen to YouTube videos that tell you to invert this or that - it may not apply to your faucet and will just waste your time.”
“I have all Moen. There is a warranty on all of these cartridges. Check the warranty prior to purchasing. I've paid a lot of money for cartridges that are covered under warranty by Moen.”
