5-Day Mule 55L Bag - Military Reviews

What was it used for? Travel, Out On The Town
I fly 2-3 times per week on average for work and I had previously been using a duffel bag and backpack (2 bags) combo while traveling - I wanted to transition to a "one-bag-to-do-it-all situation". I shopped lots of options in the backpack/duffel category, and liked many of them for various reasons, but the Mule 55L bag is the only product I could find that had every feature I wanted, was robust enough to handle being stuffed into overhead bins, but also looked nice and had more of a 'business' look than the rest of the market. The shoulder straps are comfortable and the hip/belt straps do a great job at balancing the load when the bag is fully packed. For me, it almost always is. The laptop sleeve has all the space I need for my 15" laptop, and its super easy to access without opening the bag. All the outer pockets on the bag make this possible to replace my previous 'carry-on' backpack. They hold all of my extraneous travel supplies: headphones, book, journal, charge cables, snacks and sunglasses. 55L feels like an appropriate sizing for the bag, but this thing has a ton of room, compared to say - the Black Hole 55L. Maybe that's because of its elongated structure, but I think it makes it look nicer and not as bulky when being worn. It is a perfect bag for my use case - no notes.

My husband does a lot of traveling and prefers just packing a backpack. He could not stop raving about how well this served him on his last trip. It's on the pricier end but so, so worth the investment. The fabric is water resistant and very durable, he likes how you could carry it like luggage if needed, and especially the amount of storage/ accessibility.

I’ve taken several trips using this bag. It fits great and is comfortable to carry. Able to fit everything you need plus more in a way that it’s easy to find and use. Fits easily into the overhead bin on an airplane to be used as your carry on.

Used and abused right off the bat. Took it on a 5 day trip, overloaded it and the bag held up beautifully. Pretty comfortable with a decent amount of weight and the hip straps don’t dig in after a lot of hiking. In my opinion, this bag did exactly what I needed it to do and I really like the side carry handle and used it more than I thought I would. The front flap unzipping all the way to the base was also really nice. Helps keep everything inside nice and tidy for the duration of the trip.

I prefer duffel bags when I travel — and I carry on whenever possible — and this is the perfect bag for me. From the material, to the large pockets, to the tapered end for a better fit in the overhead storage, this bag ticks all the boxes.
