Killer little hatchet however the wrapping, while nice, begins to separate with little pressure or use. It’s the same “schrade” hatchet available via cabelas with a nicer sheath, p-cord wrapping and Roark etched into the blade. I put a small bead of knife scale epoxy around the top of the p-cord to keep it from migrating up the handle, the hatchet wasn’t designed to be wrapped. The wrapping issue is the only shortfall but worst case it still has a rubberized handle underneath so can always ditch the p-cord or rewrap.

Nice small hatchet. Light weight but still has enough oomph to spilt smaller wood or branches. We’ll see how the woven handle holds up over time but it looks and feels good for now!

Solid axe for splitting small logs or lopping off small branches of downed trees for kindling. Heavy enough to really get a good swing and chop into a thicker log, but not too heavy to where it’s cumbersome to carry while hiking. Only minor aesthetic complaint is the green roping on the handle has started to come loose in places after heavy use but hasn’t affected the performance. Black coating gets scratched off with continued use, stainless steel underneath so actually looks better IMO as it gets used. Leather head cover is solid.
