“The original travel pants had real sizes, this new pro line has switched to a range covered by “small” of 28-30. The range is not accurate and these will only fit someone on the high end of the given range unless you want to have the pants fully supported by a drawstring.
Extremely disappointed by these as the upgrades seem nice but I cannot understand why they would switch from actual individual sizes to a range, especially when the original travel pants are no longer available.
I would be back to buy these in a heartbeat if they went back to standard pant sizing, but right now they don’t provide even an XS option to try and split the difference either.”
“Previously bought the original style and didn't care for it. The fit was too slim and the fit so was tight, they honestly were not very comfortable. Seen they came out with a new version "Layover Pro Traveler Pants" and picked up a black pair to see how I like them. The fit is now relaxed and much more comfortable. I like the pair so much, I ordered a second pair in charcoal. In my collection I have pants from Prana, Kuhl, Vuori and Lululemon, but these are now may favorite. They are not cheap, but they are so worth it.”
“I have tried both the lay over pants and shorts. I will not travel without either. Both are a must in my bag when traveling as well as one or the other are an everyday wear for me. The comfort to lightness competes with the stylish to relaxed fit. I can wear them all day running around or just lounging on my weekend. They are worth the price, I still have yet to second guess that. The layover line is worth it.”
Hey Kenny, good news: it's reversible. Take a close look at the first belt loop on either side, there are small holes built in specifically to poke the drawstring through to the outside. Flip it out and you've got exactly what you're looking for. Built both ways on purpose.
“I purchased a pair and had to return. What the real issue is here with these pants is Roark really needs and should transition the sizing to a waist AND inseam sizing. This one size method is never going to work the same for all people. For the best size match please Roark start developing inseam combined with the waist sizing. Watch the returns take a nose dive. Other than that i loved the feel look and style.”
“Layover 2.0s were my favorites. Was excited by some of the changes but let down by others. The belt loops are a nice add but I don’t like the new sizing. The waist runs big with the increased stretch but sizing down doesn’t change the length much and the cut is looser. I like the small flaps over the pocket zippers but the zipper pulls are small. The original and 2.0 had large pocket openings but the openings on these are a lot smaller. I’ll have to give the Layover Utility a try, as these just aren't what I was hoping for.”
TC, the Pro is a genuine evolution from the 2.0, and not every change lands for everyone. The looser cut, smaller pocket openings, that's real feedback and we hear it. Sounds like the Layover Utility might actually be your pant. More room where it counts, built for the guy who wants that original feel. Give it a run.
“I anted the previous version of the layovers but they didn’t have belt loops so I never pulled the trigger. The new layover pros are almost perfect. I’m glad that they added the belt loops but kept the drawstring. Love that the drawstrings can be in or out of the pants. Almost love the pockets. The back pockets are great, but the fronts are too shallow. I know that you can zip them, but don’t want to have to in order to keep things from falling out when I sit down. The new fabric is terrific. Feels sturdy and soft at the same time. The shorts are good as well. Fair price.
If the front pockets were deeper these would be perfect. They do need more colors. I know the four they have are pretty “safe” and will go with most things, but I’d love a light blue and a burgundy at least. Also, thanks for the military discount, folks in your SoCal store rock!”
Sean, waited for the belt loops and came through. That's patience paying off. Front pocket depth is noted, it's feedback we're taking seriously. On colors, stay tuned. And shoutout to the store crew, they already know. Thanks for traveling with us. Adventure Never Fails.
