“Great shorts and overall fit. I would not EVER wear a 3.5 inch short (or would I?) but the liner more than makes up for it. A bit on the warmer side overall, for a running short (liner is decent thickness) so this is something I only wear on cooler days.”
“These are my favorite running shorts after two decades of running.
I happened to run in to a pair at REI that had been ordered but returned - so it was the only Roark short there and it happened to be medium, my size. I travel full time and have been using these in the PNW and the bay area for trail running and
kettlebells.
Its perfect in every way - magnetic pockets deep enough to hold a phone without flopping, but the compression legging has a more secure fit for your phone. Compression feels great on my quads. No chaffing under any conditions so far. The materials LAST, I already have hundreds of runs in them and they hold up in the wash. Compression is still going strong after months, materials breathe well.
I would say that they 'feel' heavy when you put them on compared to lighter shorts (that you wouldnt carry anything in), but the compression grabs your whole leg, so packing your phone and gels works really well in this short with everything feeling close and secure (I hate floppy shorts with gear in them, drives me insane)
These are my new favorite and Ill have many pairs of them before its over with. They are not cheap, but 'buy once, cry once' and get kit thats good enough that you'll be obligated to wash it properly - they will last a long while that way and your money will go further.”
