“Journey shirts are described as woven, and while some of them have printed patterns, this Sashiko design would appear to be a jacquard weave, with the thread colors reversed on the other side of the fabric
Sashiko's an old Japanese technique of using embroidery thread to layer together pieces of recycled denim and Roark's done a brilliant job of simulating this effect in a beautiful organic cotton with a supple hand feel.
One of my favorite Roark designs, I was delighted to find a very similar Sashiko in a long sleeved fleece Diablo.
Looking forward to layering up!”
“I love this shirt. I’m picky about woven shirts, but this is quite ingenious in capturing the look of parthwork. I couldn’t resist trying on the Gonzo Camp Shirt at the same time, and it’s truly spectacular, but I judged myself unable to “carry it off,” so I returned it. The Journeyman is perfect for me.”
