Head unit must have 2 SD card slots (navigation-enabled). If you have 1 slot and the App-Connect function (see the last photo) in your infotainment system, and your software version ends with the letter D , then this SD card will work. Example: MST2_EU_VW_E0220 D How to find SW Train Version: Hold the MENU button for ~3 seconds. Select Software Update / Versions . Check the installed SW Train Version on screen. Technical Notes & App-Connect VW introduced MIB2 in late 2015 with full App-Connect functionality (Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, MirrorLink). Depending on trim, three MIB2 variants were used: MIB2 Standard (MST2) — navigation via SD-card, requires two SD slots. MIB2 High (MHI2) — Discover Pro with maps stored internally. MIB2 Entry (MEN2) — basic infotainment without navigation or app activation. Activation via SD card is a proven and DIY-friendly method — no dealership visit required. Many users successfully enable CarPlay/Android Auto using just the activation SD card. Note: MST2 units do not support wireless CarPlay/Android Auto natively — a separate wireless dongle is required. What Isn’t Compatible Head units with only 1 SD card slot (no navigation). Software versions ending in P01xxT and P05xxT . Some early vehicles (2015 – 2016) may require a USB port replacement to enable Apple CarPlay functionality. Android Auto will work without hardware changes. Additional coding using VCDS or OBDeleven may be needed to make the activated services visible.
