“Decided to have a go at the "pot growing" lark and based on recommendations on the seedsman page opted to try "LowRyder #2" as my first experiment.
Bought package of 3 seeds, and not sure whether all 3 would grow opted to try sprouting and plant all 3 together.
Germinating and sprouting them wrapped in a damp paper towel, was easy, within 12 hours the shells had cracked and after 24 hours the main root had emerged.
Place all 3 into a 3 gallon container with soil in a 36x36x24 grow tent with a 400W led grow light on 24/7.
Now I'm not going to say that there were no issues, at first they were being over watered, but once I dialed back (and using a water meter), these things just flourished.
After 5 weeks, they were abut 24 inches tall when the autoflower kicked in, growth stopped and buds started to develop.
We have not sampled the bud yet, they are about 2 weeks away from harvest, BUT while doing a little leaf pruning after they started to flower, we dried and smoked the leaves and WOW!!! Just the effect from smoking the leaves almost blew our socks off, giving us a good head high - one of those high's that allows you to really analyse and debate the nuances of a fun TV show (main writeup talks about it being good for ADHD, so that is probably the effect there)
Caveat, "Lowryder #2" does have a strong aroma, after just a few weeks growing there was a distinct smell in the house, so be sure to have a carbon air filter attached to your setup.
Why they are great for beginners, as I said, despite being nearly drowned and then starved, they did great. The grow tent, because of where I am remained around 80F-85F with ~50% humidity. Not exactly the best conditions and I'm sure many other strains would not do well in these conditions, but "Lowryder #2" just went for it.
For beginners, you want a strain that is not only easy, tolerant, but also makes you go "holy moly - we grew some damn good shit..." something that tells you that its all worth the effort and eager to do more.
And for that "Lowryder #2" is an excellent pick for a first time grew.”
“Bought 3 and they arrived safely.
Popped them into a small bowl of lukewarm this morning (3 1/2) hours ago and they've already started cracking...
Will transplant this afternoon into their own 5 gallon pot on my patio...
Can't wait to see these beauties grow...
:)”
