“For those that have seen the LotR trilogy, they know that this is not the best in the series. In no way is it as amazing. It doesn't have the heart of the first or the epicness of the last. It is a good middle fit.”
“Octopussy, der vielleicht schwächste Bondfilm.Keine Frage, Roger Moore war ein großartiger Bond-Darsteller und hat mit die besten Bondfilme gemacht. Nur leider gehört Octopussy definitiv nicht dazu. Viele schieben es u.A auf sein Alter. Hätte er vorher abtreten sollen um diesen sehr schwachen Bond zu vermeiden ? Vielleicht. Wären wir dann dazu in der Lage gewesen den meines Erachtens nach tollen "Im Angesicht des Todes" zu sehne ? Nein. Somit nehme ich Octopussy in kauf um einen guten Bond als Roger Moores Abschluss in seiner Bond-Karriere zu sehen.Vorweg. Der Bondsong gefällt mir persönlich kaum. Definitiv einer der schwächeren. Aber dort liegen auch nicht die wenigen Stärken des Films. Diese liegen darin das der Film sich nicht all zu ernst nimmt, das die Locations, bis auf das schwache Deutschland alle klasse sind und das einige der Actionszenen recht unterhaltsam inszeniert sind. Die Bond Girls sind auch nicht ohne. Dennoch bleibt der Bösewicht total blass, die Story ist wenig einfallsreich und auch Szenen wie die Krokodiltarnung und das 3-Rädige Taxi imkl. der Verfolgungsjadg sind nicht soo toll. Aber auch hier ist die PTS sehr gut inszeniert und in den meisten Actionszenen kommt der zu dem Zeitpunkt 57 Jährige Roger Moore gut rüber. Zum großteil spielt der Film in Indien, was wirklich toll aussieht. Genau wie alle anderen Länder (u.A Deutschland), doch leider bleibt er gerade in Deutschland etwas blass. Dort punkten die anderen Drehorte mehr. Es wird hier leider einiges falsch gemacht. Zum Glück machte Roger noch einen, und der hatte es in sich.Man wird, wenn man niedrige Erwartungen hat und den Film nicht ernst nimmt, sicherlich seinen Spaß haben können. Dennoch ist es der schwächste Bond und da sollte man definitiv auf einen der anderen Moore's umsteigen.Jetzt was zur Technik. Wo der Film in vielen Bereichen versagt, ist das Bild absolut erstklassig. Die Details sind alle wunderbar zu erkennen, die Schärfe ist enorm gut und Kleidung, Haare und dergleichen, alles ist bis ins Detail zu erkennen. Landschaftsaufnahmen der wunderschönen Locations sind ebenfalls toll zu bestaunen. Hier macht der Film wirklich alles richtig. Auch technisch. Der Ton ist etwas überdurchschnittlich. Die Dialoge sind klar verständlich und auch die Surroundeffekte sind stellenweise wirklich gut. Nur klingt einiges, besonders in den Actionszenen etwas stumpf. Man darf aber nicht vergessen das der Film aus den 80ern ist. Da kann man beruhigt zugreifen.Tipp: Wenn einem der Film zusagt, hat man eine wunderbare Bluray-Umsetzung. Deshalb 3/5 Sterne. :)”
“Octopussy is one of the best films of the Roger Moore era. It boasts a very complex and interesting screenplay filled with exotic characters. Although the plot centers on a megalomaniac, this time the political overtones make his threat of a nuclear crisis quite plausible and the co-operation between East and West to stop him signifies the end of the Cold War.The film not only features one of Roger Moore's most effective performances as 007, but also presents an impressive and talented cast. The producers wisely keep silly humor to a minimum, although a bit of it does manage to creep in (Bond gives a Tarzan yell while swinging on a vine, for example) Ironically, the sequence which could have been mishandled quite easily - Bond trying to disarm a nuclear bomb at a circus while dressed as a clown - is played seriously and generates a good deal of tension.The breathtaking visuals of India make a unique background for a Bond film, and the local sites are creatively used to their utmost potential. (Alan Hume's cinematography ignores the poverty and makes the nation look like a paradise.)The film also benefits from some well directed action sequences and a pre-credits scene that ranks among the best in the series. Aided by a wonderful John Barry score, Octopussy comes close to hitting an all time high for Roger Moore's 007.”

“I fist saw this movie while stationed in Japan. I thought it was good then, and I think it's still good now. That one scene towards the end involving them flying over the desert is probably the best and most dangerous stunt works that's ever been filmed.”
