“Let me start with a sentence from one of my favorite writers - Jeeves lugged my purple socks out of the drawer las if he were a vegetarian fishing a caterpillar out of his salad. That always summed up my trouble with socks. I used to purchase socks from the local store. They were called dress socks and I suppose they were but would start looking ratty fairly quickly. The fact that most of them were also below the calf socks meant that they tended to slide down through the day, a problem that would be exacerbated as they aged and the elastic started to give up. In hindsight, it is a silly design - trying to fit a cylindrical shape to an upside conical shape (which is what our legs are) and depending on friction to keep it in place. I will also confess that they were pretty boring socks - the tired old greys and blues and browns with boring patterns. I eventually found more interesting patterns like argyles etc. online but the remaining problems persisted and often even the interesting patterns tended towards loud colours, large patterns etc. These socks are a world different. First of all, 100% cotton and it feels like really good cotton - soft and comfortable, like a good shirt. Second, fit over the calf - no chance of rolling down and swaddling, pooling, bunching up. Finally, they fit my sense of aesthetics. They are not boring but they do not rely on over the top, loud patterns. Instead, they have these rich pair of colours that complement each other and are easy to pair with trousers or ties or the rest of the clothes. So, they provide a visual point of interest without breaking the flow of the eye. In other words, the eye is free to move but if it stops, there is enough visual interest to make it worth the stop. Flowery language perhaps, but I am very pleased with them.”

“With their socks FB manage again to get you the best of both of worlds: They combine a perfect hold, which keeps all day long which I before only achieved with my green woolen NATO socks, with a fine texture which goes well with any more formal dress. In fact, the texture is way finer than I had imagined - and I am glad about that (especially it almost leaves no marks on the skin). The subtle stripe pattern plus its over-the-calf form give your more variety of how to combine with the rest of your wardrobe with a well-dosed vintage elegance. This version goes perfectly well with the Shantung navy tie e.g. I am definitely going to incorporate it into my more casual wardrobe as well, though I would be afraid of wearing them out too soon.”

“I ordered a pair of these socks. Honestly, I gambled on these and it proved worthwhile. My calves are particularly large, and so over-the-calf socks have been something of a challenge for me. With other socks (not these), if I was able to get them up, properly, over my calves, the elastic would cut in to my legs, sometimes painfully, or they would have issues staying up. I tried these, and, wow. They not only stayed in place throughout the day, the broad elastic was very kind to my legs, they were wonderfully comfortable. At the end of the day, when I removed them, there was hardly any mark on my legs. For my size, I ordered "large" and they fit perfectly (I'm a size 12 shoe, with somewhat wide feet).”
