“The Edelweiss is unusual, and always garners comments. I have had ladies touch it and ask what it is--a bit odd. Colorado winter weather prohibits fresh flowers, as only a few moments outside will freeze the petals and ruin the bloom. Artificial flowers are the only possible option once winter weather hits. I did pick up some Edelweiss seeds, and will start them this spring. I understand the plant is somewhat fickle, and routinely takes two years to bloom. We live at 7,500' msl, so the climate here is perfect for them. I suspect I'll end up sticking with the Fort Belvedere option year 'round.”
