We looked at a LOT of bento boxes before deciding to make this one for our in house brand, The Happy Sparrow. There are many reasons why we love the new BENTO FIVE because it fixes problems we have seen with other stainless steel lunch boxes and bento boxes on the market.LEAKPROOF compartments so there's no cross contamination between compartments (leakproof for soft & runny foods - not leakproof for water).LAPTOP style lid with strong stainless steel hinges so the lid doesn't get lost and only needs one clip to secure.ROOM FOR SANDWICHES with the largest square compartment taking 1.5 sandwiches with the crust removed and the one next to it on the left taking a full sandwich with the crusts removed.EASIER TO CLEAN than bentos with a fixed divider, our compartments are rounded with no room for food to get stuck.SILICONE SEAL is not just a ring around the edges that have been problematic in staying in place in other brands, this one secures the entire lid. It is easily removed for washing EVERY TIME you use the box. There are some horrific photographs online of plastic bentos that have lids with single compartment seals and they are glued down and water gets underneath and mould grows in them. Ours is not glued, it's see-through and is removed for washing after every use.MADE FROM - food grade 18/8 stainless steel with a food grade silicone seal in the lid that get removed to washCARE INSTRUCTIONS - remove silicone seal for each clean. Stainless Steel Bento is dishwasher safe. The silicone is too but we prefer it be hand washed to avoid water spots.HOW TO SAFELY OPEN & CLOSE - To open, place your thumbs on the bento in between either side of the clip, place pointer fingers and middle fingers on each hand on the clip and push towards the thumbs. Use more fingers if they will fit to make it easier. To close, place your thumbs on the clip and your index and middle fingers along the edge of the longest compartment that is closed to the hinges, NOT the clip. Push the thumbs to close. NOTE, there is only a small gap between the clip and the longest compartment, small fingers may get caught if not closed correctly.
