This review is about the Simucube ActivePedal. The device is absolutely amazing! I can use brake profiles for different cars such as Rental Kart, Formula, GT car, street car, SUV, etc. I can even model the profile of crooked brake discs that can be used on an old historic car. Absolutely amazing! Simucube Tuner is a pleasant-looking user interface and it's pretty easy to use, as long as you know what you're aiming for. The tuner profile is in JSON format, making it easy to read and manipulate. With ActivePedal, it's really enjoyable to drive, for example, a 90's sports car, where the brakes are not in the class of a racing car. Then you can go driving a race car and you can automatically make a switch to a race car brake profile. I bought a Simucube Pedals set with a passive brake included. The quality of the brake is also really excellent. Adjusting the positions is easy, and the mechanics of the device include a component that sounds like a micro switch, which clicks when you change the positions and the position stays in the place, making screw locking easy. I haven't seen anything like this in any of my other devices. The materials are really pleasant in color and style. Pedal plate installation took some time, but eventually I got it installed. There is no talk of a return to the old LC brakes.

I love the Active pedal for the brakes. I seen improvements the same day even before I had the pedals adjusted just right. Very well made, and very accurate, and very adjustable.

Je suis encore en période de découverte des pédales mais vraiment super en qualité et super sensations avec une multitude de réglages. Rien à voir avec les autres marques.

Active pedal was another revelation, first went to my track car and measured pre-load, initial press force, final pressure, pedal travel, set the same in the software, and it was jaw dropping that finally i could practice the same brake as in the car on sim rig. I have tried so many tricks and upgrades with all other pedals, and it never felt anything like in the car. Passive throttle, i had to turn the plate upside down to get the same feeling as in a real car, but overall setting up spring force and travel is so easy it was like a snap. For Heusinkveld clutch you need to get SC connector, otherwise it won't work just by plugging cable.

I didn't fully understand or appreciate what reviewers meant when they said that the true value proposition of this product is the ability to make adjustments to the pedals on the fly. My experience with pedals is that you get underneath your rig with allen keys, patience and hours upon hours of tweaking to get the pedal set to my liking. The issue with this is it takes so much work to switch back and forth that you end up settling for something because it takes too much work to tweak. Once you settle, you're only settling for the optimum configuration of that particular pedal. Every pedal set is different in their pedal rest position, spring rate curve, pedal travel, preload, and damping. Some things you can adjust, other things you cannot. You do the best with what you have. I was having issues with my current pedals and I was having to decide to drop $1k on another higher end pedal set or $2k on these. The issues I was concerned with were "what if I don't like my new pedals", and "what if my new pedals break or act differently like my last pair". I looked at it this way, I could either spend $2k to get every pedal ever made, or keep dropping $1k every year or so and waste hours with allen keys adjusting them to get them closer to what I like. Within days of installing my new pedals I realized that what I wanted out of a pedal was simply not possible with my old pedals. My lap times fell as I was finally feeling an actual connection to the car and driving it rather than fighting with my pedals. Good pedals change everything. I will say that all this is about the brake pedal. I tried the active pedal out as a throttle and I would not recommend it. A simple throttle is all you need and as long as the throw and force are to your liking, set it and forget it. Brakes are a completely different story. I have different brakes for different cars now. Not something I ever thought I'd want but it's essential. I know it sounds weird but I recommend that anyone getting into sim racing start with the active brake before they invest heavily in anything else. Get a cheap throttle, and a decent DD base and move on. This brake is worth it!
