The splitter has been very useful. I have been able to split large diameter logs with ease as long as I do not let the entire bit go into the log during process. It tends to get stuck backing out.

Overall it works well, particularly with soft woods. In the harder oaks, it tends to get stuck and won't always penetrate or split the log, but I've been able to get it out. The one annoying thing is when you go deep inside the log if the wood touches the lynch pin, it will pop out nearly 100% of the time. Something holding it down a little more securely would be a great (and easy) design improvement. (you can have that idea for free! You're welcome.)

It was way too tight of tolerances. Both The set screw and the actual splitter piece took about an hour to get it off. I will have to sand it it down before I try it again. I have a toro brand auger.

As long as it's pine it grabs fast but anything else I have to work it to get it to grab and on some logs it won't grab even after a few minutes trying to get it to go in.

As a tree service I come across a lot of wood that isn’t worthy of going to the mill, so I bought this to breakdown logs further to either chip them or make it easier to sell big diameter stuff. Works great on Douglas fir but cottonwood for example not as good as it absorbed the cone and didn’t always break it open so it must be drilled more Frequently Down the timber. A larger cone would be better but I am aware machining something bigger diameter gets expensive fast for the blank.

Hey Andrew, Thanks for taking the time to leave a review of the Eterra Spiral Stinger. It sounds like the attachment is serving it's purpose, but we're sorry it doesn't handle the cottonwood so well. The more practice you get with the attachment the better you'll be able to deal with different wood types and sizes. If you get any pictures or videos running the splitter please send them in, we'd love to see. Let us know if we can do anything else for you! All the best, Skid Steer Solutions
