Eterra CM-40 Back Up Camera with Monitor for Skid Steers, Tractors, and Heavy Equipment
Description
Introducing the newest addition to the Eterra back up camera family (Previous models include the CM-30 and CM-20). The CM-40 skid steer camera system is designed using feedback from customers on past models, and this updated design is the most functional and user friendly heavy equipment back up camera system on the market today. Let's break down this new skid steer back up camera system.
Sealed Monitor: Designed with a sealed monitor, durable aluminum monitor enclosure, and captive charge buttons making life easier for operators working with gloves, you'll be able to use the various buttons on the monitor easily. The new monitor design uses real buttons with an integrated silicon seal. When you click on each individual button it allows you to feel the buttons.
Removable Harness: Uses a detachable sealed plug system so the harness connects to the monitor and can easily replaced if damaged.
Camera Size: Compact new design with all the same great features you have come to expect from an Eterra product. It features a 150 degree wide angle view. The heated assembly keeps them clear in cold weather. The external LED's assist you when operating in dark areas or during the night. Compact design so they can be installed practically anywhere. If you need multiple cameras you can find the CM-40 Replacement Camera here.
Features:
Inline fuse in connector wires
IP-67 monitor ratings: This rugged design gives the monitor the ability to withstand direct water exposure without leaking
Dust can build up on the buttons with no issues to the functionally of the buttons

Warning: Many companies are offering automotive backup cameras to be used on skid steers. The difference is that automotive cameras are not built to run continuously for hours. They are meant only for backing up. This can cause issues in a skid steer as there is a slight delay each time you back up. Eterra cameras are meant to be turned on and kept on until you are done for the day. Eterra cameras are also built tough enough to withstand the conditions of a job site or forestry operation, exposure to moisture, and can handle the vibration of a machine, unlike automotive cameras. We have seen issues with wireless cameras as well, as they can be affected by your cell phone.

I am including photos of the CM-40 installed in the upper left corner on my Cat 289D. The 2nd picture shows the C bracket aligned with the bottom ridge of the flat surface, partially covering the junk tray in the upper left corner, and the cables going to the headliner. The inline fuse is also accessible behind that pop-out panel. I drilled 3 new holes in the bracket to allow mounting as high as possible, adding large flat washers in back so the bolts will not stress the plastic. Mount is very solid. I can still reach behind the camera to the junk tray if I ever decide I need it, with the advantage now that the C bracket covers the bottom half of the opening so nothing can fall out. I ran a ground wire with the camera cable back to the ground lugs at the hinge point under the cab, shown in the 3rd photo. The red and yellow wires are crimped to the power-out line at the key with the junk blue inline splice that came with the kit. I will probably revisit that later. All the unused trigger wires are taped to the power cable. The final 2 pictures show the camera mounted in the factory peep hole. I redrilled the C bracket to match the mounting holes in the door. When I was test fitting it the camera fit the hole very well but after mounting with a rubber pad to dampen shock and tilting the camera angle to see as close behind the machine as possible, you see it sits a little low in the hole. Most of the factory installed cameras that I have seen do not show the first 3 or 4 feet behind the machine. I want to see what I am backing up to. I had another exterior picture that shows the 2 buckets seen at the bottom of the monitor picture are less than 18" behind the machine but I could only upload 5 photos. Take caution when routing the cables to avoid heat and pinch points and use the zip ties but it is EZ to do. If I had more talent I should have made a You Tube installation video, but that's not my thing. Right now I am very happy with the overall quality of the unit and the service I got from Skid Steer Solutions. Kiowa Ritcheson answered all my questions and sent me the dimensions of the camera before I ordered. I will review again after a year. On a side note my 289D is a OROP cab and the night after I installed we got a torrential rain, the system took it and the monitor stayed dry. Audie

The camera works great, giving an excellent rear view. The monitor could not be mounted above the door on the Kubota 75 as described on the 95, however we got it mounted.

Lousy.Took 3 months to get and no tracking system until it ships. When I called, they kept telling me 2 to 3 weeks. Which turned into 3 months.

It's a nice camera except for one thing it does not work well with the glare I'm sure there's cameras with filters or monitors to cut the glare I noticed when the sun starts going down working a late evenings the picture shows up much better and yes I am using the sun-visor oh and one more thing the The screen is mounted at the top of the cab where there's less sun

Fantastic, wired in easily. Took about an hour for install. We mounted the screen to the top/ceiling metal grating. The rear view is impressive.
