Eterra Skid Steer Hurricane Concrete Mixer
Description
The Eterra Skid Steer Hurricane Concrete Mixer is designed for operators who need a practical and efficient solution for mixing and pouring materials on-site. This heavy-duty attachment allows you to scoop, mix, and dispense without the need for additional equipment. Unlike standard concrete buckets, this mixer offers three versatile dispensing options: a hydraulically controlled center chute that dispenses from the bottom, operated with a 12V solenoid for in-cab control; a spring-assisted manual side chute that allows a second person to adjust the material flow with a lever; and the ability to pour directly from the top grate for quick dumping.
Inside the mixer, Hardox 400 steel paddles ensure a consistent and thorough mix by breaking up clumps and keeping material moving efficiently, whether you're working with wet or dry materials. The reversible chain drive system powers the paddles in both directions, preventing material buildup and reducing wear over time for reliable, long-term performance. The bolted-on, easy-lift grate simplifies cleanup and features a built-in bag splitter for faster material loading.
Constructed from A572 Grade 50 steel, this mixer is available in 9 Cu. Ft. (67.3 Gallons), 16 Cu. Ft. (119.69 Gallons), and 21 Cu. Ft. (157.09 Gallons) capacities.

Mixing Instructions
We recommend using Redimix/Quikrete for the best results.
A typical mix is 1 part water, 2 parts cement and 3 parts sand/gravel by volume. A dry mix should be mixed first with the water added slowly. If a slump cone is available, adjust water to achieve a 2" - 3" (51 - 76mm) slump. The final water content should be approximately 6 - 9 pt (2.8 - 4.3L) of water per 80 lb (36.3 kg) bag of concrete. The easiest way for you to achieve the best results is to use bagged pre-mix in 80 lb. bags. Each bag provides .60 cu. ft. of finished concrete. This translates to 15 bags of mix per batch. The current price today per bag is about $4. For small batch on demand concrete, it does not get much better.
Water
The first time you create a batch it is advisable to use a 55 gallon barrel that is prefilled with water. Use a white 5 gallon pail and measure 4 gallons inside the pail and draw a line inside the bucket so you can scoop a predetermined amount each time you fill the bucket. The idea is to add enough water to the mix and keep track of how much water you have used so that each consecutive batch will be the same consistency.
On-Site Mix
If you choose to mix the entire batch on your own, it is still advisable to buy your sand/gravel premixed to insure the quality you would expect for a professional batch. If you still would like to mix your own then scoop enough sand/gravel into your mixer to cover the paddles. Add 1.5 bags of Portland Cement per batch for 4000 psi concrete or 2 bags per batch for 5000 psi concrete. Once you have added water, the mixture will compress so you can add more sand/gravel mix to top off the batch. Once the batch is thoroughly mixed, it is safe to transport to the pour site.
Clean-up
Lots of water with some pea gravel added. Run the mixer for a few minutes and rinse any other spots that you see that have lingering traces of mix. A small spray bottle with diesel added will help to keep everything from rusting and sticking the next time you use your mixer.

I bought the BMX 250. It was fantastic! Cut the work time in less than half. Thought I'd share my mixing technique and coverage data as it may help others. Our local aggregates dealer--Hanson Aggregates--makes a Cement Mix ("C-mix") of 50% sand and 50% 3/8" gravel. I bought 4.5 CY because of the dump trailer weight limits. At first I measured out 10 five- gallon buckets to get an idea, from looking at the machine, how much to scoop up the next time for the mix. I noted that the 10 bucket line was when the mix leveled out just above the side hubs around which the mixing axle rotated. Then I mixed in 2 five-gallon buckets of Portland Cement for a 1:5 ratio of cement to sand/gravel. I noted that 1 94# bag of Portland Cement plus 3 shovels will fill up 2 five-gallon buckets of Portland Cement so I would not have to measure it out each time. One mix like this--12 buckets of material--will pour at little over a 4'x4'x 3.5" slab, about 16-17 SF. My whole project was 68 SF and took 4 mixes of approximately 12 five-gallon buckets each, and I had about 5 shovels of material left over. I tried the side chute at first but found it too slow as my 1st mix was a little dry. Then I used the center dump without the center chute hose. for the next 3 pours. I had 4 pours altogether to cover 68 SF for a 3.5" slab. Once formed up, the whole job took a little less than 3 hours, and the next one should go a lot faster now that I know how much to scoop up per bag of cement. Bottom line--this is a GREAT tool--time and back saver!!! Thanks!

Purchased the 450 model and works great. Found if you mix in the water with the gravel/ sand before the Portland its faster and you can add more gravel to above the paddles. Highly recommend. Poured 24 yd or so and no issues. Also we have used it to mix up garden soil breaks the peat moss down nicely. Thanks for the great tool.

Definitely use a pea Gravel mix not standard river rock and sand. Ask your local Sand and Gravel to mix you 5 yards of Pea gravel and sand mix for your dump trailer and use Portland cement and you will be ready. You can use regular mix but you won't have ears afterwards.

Well, I've been mixing concrete with this a couple times a week usually around 20 batches. I live in the virgin islands and concrete pants are scarce. Plants we do have are really pricey and can't make it up in the mountains so we're forced to hand mix. Pouring a driveway now roughly 360' long 12' wide 6" thick. Full batch gets you about 2' per. Have run probably in the neighborhood of 200 batches. 3/4" rocks and a lot of water for clean up helps. Mix that for several minutes. We use a pressure washer to assist. Wagner paint sprayer and vegetable oil before first batch and coat entire mixer helps a lot for clean up also. Highly recommend this mixer.

Winston, Thanks so much for leaving this review. This is some of the most impressive work we've seen from someone using this mixer! Great photos, and good tips for keeping the hopper clean. I'm wondering what size unit you are using? If you don't have the 600, it may be time for an upgrade if you keep doing these large jobs! Thanks again, and let us know if we can do anything else for you. All the best, Skid Steer Solutions

I have uncrated it. It looks extremely well made and designed. The crate was perfect for hauling 10 piglets home from 300 kilometers away:)) I have been to busy to use it or to figure how to hook up the electrical. There is a booklet that may have instructions. There could be an electric cord connecter missing to get power from engine compartment to mixer cable. The ones supplied look to short. However, when I look at instructions I will know more. Just digging out from 3 more feet of snow:))

Great and well built piece of equipment. We purchased ours to use on a 17,000 ft cobble drive that required a 3-4" 4 to gravel screenings to Portland cement base. This material was a fairly dry but a slightly hydrated mix. On this project we mixed nearly 250,000 tons of product and have since mixed over 50-60 yards of standard cement. Other than the typical concrete footers and small pours, another bonus application for us is pouring small footers for granite curbing. We like to wet set the material and the side discharge works perfectly for this. We couldn't be more pleased with the machine and I have no doubt that it will last. It has paid for itself many times already.
