Eterra 5 Foot Excavator Sickle Mower Description The Eterra 5-Foot Excavator Sickle Bar Mower is built for cutting vegetation on land and in water, making it ideal for roadsides, ditches, fence lines, and aquatic weed control. With a 5-foot cutting width, it handles grass, brush, and saplings up to 2 inches thick. Its excavator-mounted design allows for extended reach in hard-to-access areas, and the 15-20 GPM flow rate ensures smooth operation. This model is approved for aquatic use, allowing operators to submerge it in ponds and waterways to clear overgrown vegetation. The 3" x 3" tube mount and Excavator Mounting Adapter provide seamless attachment to your excavator’s coupler. A break-away bar protects against impact damage, and the non-clogging sickle design ensures reliable performance. Unlike rotary mowers, it cuts cleanly without throwing debris, making it safer for public and residential areas. Simple to operate and low-maintenance, the Eterra 5-Foot Excavator Sickle Mower is a practical tool for land and water vegetation control. Note:  Every excavator is different. Many machines (Especially older models) use only two pumps. One to control your stick and rotation. One for track drive and auxiliary flow (your mower). For machines that have this type of pump arrangement, it is not possible to drive the machine forward and cut at the same time.  You will need to drive forward, stop and then sweep back and forth for cutting. For operators with newer machines like Kubota and any Yanmar, you have three pumps so you can drive and cut at the same time. The machine works well it its overall design. The service of the sickle bar leaves much to be desired as the teeth replacement is tedious and time consuming. You have to remove the motor and the fixed bar to access the teeth. The machine is going through ALOT of teeth. We are trimming a bike trail and going through at least 6 a day. The tips are breaking off way more than we anticipated. Hoping ETERRA or Skidsteersolutions have a solution to the teeth problem.

Seems to work..The pitman broke the in the first hour of use. I was trimming brush along the road. I disassembled the unit ,welded it with some reinforcements..Haven’t used since. I did not use the mounting adapter I ordered. May I return it? Thanks Bron Robinson

We purchased the sickle mower for a Community College to ease the labor on the landscaping crew. We use it to cut hedges, trim around ponds, and trim trees limbs hanging over the road. For instance, we used it back in the fall to cut some hedges. It would normally take 3-4 days to complete, we finished in one. We mounted it to a JD 26G excavator, which is at the lower end with HP and weight for this mower. I would like to see how it would do on a machine with more hyd. flow, but we have been pleased with our purchase.

Mower seems very well made. Impressed by it's ability to cut through woody underbrush and saplings. For my Bobcat 331, the hoses should be 1 foot longer.

The mower performed well in cutting but the bar is the mowers weak link. In only two hours of use the bar started to bend due to bouncing and lifting with underbrush on it, especially when the boom was extended 15 to 20 feet out. They won't do anything under warranty but will only tell you how to straighten the bar. I had to send it out to fabrication shop to straighten and reinforce the bar at my own expense. Since using this mower I would only use it for grass, weed removal or anything light duty unless you correct the bar issue as I have

I am very happy with the quick shipping and excellent packaging of my new mower. It will be used in the spring so I have not hooked it up as yet but I think it will serve me just fine. I am anxious to use it. My only complaint was I requested the $100 gift coupon with my order over $3000. I have had no response from anyone in the business. I inadvertently forgot to add the coupon on the day of the order but requested it one day later. I have since made two requests but no response one way or the other!
