QC Mate Quick Coupler Hand Clamp from XBoom
Description
A common problem when connecting any quick-connect hydraulic coupler is that line pressure can build up, making connecting the couplers nearly impossible. The XBoom Coupler® QC-Mate(TM) quickly and safely solves that problem.
The QC Mate uses special shaped clamp jaws (13-ga steel tubing with large structural side gussets) that mount to a ratcheting hand clamp, providing powerful 600 lb clamping force. The Coupler Clamp is available in both 12" and 18" spacing to accommodate the various machines types and styles of hydraulic blocks and couplers. It is compatible with all standard Flat-Face Hydraulic Couplers and Ag Style Hydraulic Couplers within the listed sizes.
Jaw Sizing
It is important to note the difference between the NPT size (commonly used for couplers) from the outer diameter of the coupler. When choosing QC Mate jaw sizes, select the jaw size that coincides with your coupler NPT size. If you have 1/2" quick couplers, select a 1/2" NPT jaw option. Be aware that the actual jaw width/diameter will be larger than 1/2" (.87" to be exact) in order to fit the outer diameter of the coupler.
Duo Jaws are designed to fit two sizes of coupler each. The benefit of this style is that you can use the same QC Mate clamp on two different coupler sizes without changing the jaws. The Duo Jaws are available in a smaller size (fits 3/8" & 1/2") and larger size (fits 1/2" & 3/4"). The disadvantage of the Duo style jaws is that when using them on the larger of the two sizes you may experience reduced clamping force because the connection with the coupler is less robust and closer to the "tip" of the jaw.
Actual Duo Jaw Diameters are:
3/8" & 1/2" = .71" & .87"
1/2" & 3/4" = .87" & 1.06"
Uni Jaws are designed to fit one size of coupler each, and they are available in 4 sizes. Uni Jaws are the most robust clamping jaw available because they keep the clamping force at the base of the jaw.
Actual Uni Jaw Diameters are:
3/8" = .71"
1/2" = .87"
3/4" = 1.06"
7/8" = 1.18"

Will the QC-Mate work for my machine?
This tool is compatible with ALL standard 3/8", 1/2", 3/4", and 7/8" NPT nipples and fittings that attach to the back-side of Flat-Face and Ag Style Hydraulic Couplers. However, the Clamp Jaws need to engage the back-side of each coupler. Therefore, this device may not be compatible with some “Hydraulic Blocks” where access to both sides of the circuit are not accessible (this is the case with many CAT and Kubota skid steers and CTLs). Also, pre-measure your longest connection point distance (the spread) to determine whether you'll want the 12" or 18" clamp option. For the jaws to engage, you have to have access to the flat surfaces on the back of the couplers and a “shared center-line” for the clamp to align correctly and create an in-line clamping force.

You asked and I am not one to tell tales out of school. I LOVE the concept. But after using it for a while it is not always as easy as the website video makes it look. And of course mine are real life situations with some pressure on the couplers. It seems that I am having to crank REALLY HARD to compress the couplers so that they will come together. And in several instances lately, it seems that the "jaws" will SLIP upon squeezing the handles! I do in fact try and release as much pressure on all of my hydraulics as possible whenever I disconnect them, which is what perplexes me! I have 1/2" couplers on my attachments, and had started with flat face couplers, but was having such problems with them that I changed to Pioneer Ag couplers, 8250-4s and 8010-4s. Again, I know that this tool makes it a LITTLE easier, but I guess I was hoping for more. I don't know why I am having to squeeze so hard to compress the fittings. Since I am new to the use of this tool I have not posted anything negative on any of the sites. In fact, I continue to give it praise, as I really like the idea behind it and maybe it is just me. You can see my comments on your YouTube video about the QC Mate. If you have any tips or hints I would greatly appreciate hearing them. Also, is there a way to prevent the jaws from "slipping"? I am using them the way they were shipped to me. No oils or wax on the bars. Thank you for the follow up question. That says a lot about your company and your service! Sincerely, Lonnie Chartrand

Hey Lonnie, Thank you for the review! We spoke with the supplier and they sent over this to help: "The couplers must stay Straight in-line. If they are not kept/held straight in-line they will work against each other as the clamp is used. A good practice is 1 hand on the clamp, other on the couplers to push/pull on them during the clamping process to keep them in-line." Please let us know if this helps with the grip! I believe I purchased the right tool to assist on my Kubota SVL65-2. No good. All the adapters on the clamp were too small. I took the part out of its package and made it my own with the assumption it would work. That’s on me. I wish I could return (haven’t tried) for possibly the right product.

I opened the box your package came in - looked at the tool you sent and it did not fit my Bobcat - I tried to call your company with no answer and could not get your information to come up on line. I requested to return your product with no contact from your company. Your company if you are really a company in my opinion is a fraudulent company.

It was an excellent purchase. The QC Mate Quick Coupler was the only tool that actually helped me connect a stubborn flat-faced hydraulic coupler on my tractor. I was attempting to connect hydraulic hose couplers for my grapple and I was down for several days after making several futile attempts to connect the hoses. Now after using the QC Coupler, I'm back up and running. I made a YouTube video of the entire process. Feel free to see video on my channel called "Houndsman One"
