“I’m very satisfied with the performance and fit. I use them for everyday wear and for fishing. I recommend them for anyone looking for a pair of sunglasses for everyday use.”

“I had a set of Pinpoint Chromapop for a couple years that were unfortunately lost to an incident while travelling. I really liked those glasses, but I stay short of "loved" as they had the dumbest arm-design ever which when folded the tips would contact the screen and scratch up the inside lens coating.
I mention that as context to say that the Riptide do not suffer the same dispicible design flaw and pleased to see the arm ends overlap the frames when folded.
Aside from that, the design is similar if a little larger than the Pinpoint. This was expected and intentional as I did love the look and fit of that previous pair so these have been an excellent replacement.
I was really excited to see Smith adding actual glass to their lineup so I definitely sprang for the Chromapop glass and have been (expectedly) very impressed with the clarity, but time will tell if they do prove more scratch resistant. I definitely had a couple small ones despite always looking carefully for my sunnies, and always being bagged for storage.
Overall the fit, look, and feel of these glasses is superb and I am really pleased with my decision. I have them for casual use not sports or activity (I use other pairs for that purpose) so cannot comment on retention in high activity but for every day use they are stellar. I have a fairly average sized head (helmet size M/L) with a larger-than-average nose and these don't cause me any issues.
I will likely also use these for fishing, but have not had the chance to get on the water yet this summer since I bought them.
The Pinpoint before would often sit a little too close to my face and get marks on them from my eyebrows, especially if I had applied sunscreen. So far these don't seem to suffer that.
My only real complaint is that the tint colour was not apparant *at all* on the Smith website without really looking for it so I did not know--or expect--the colour combo I ordered to be brown-based. I kinda hate the brown and so I've really debated selling them on and re-buying in a grey-based tint but I'm giving it a chance to see if the sunny-optimistic-happy-tinted world through these glasses is okay.
The pictures on the site make the blue lens look very grey in appearance so would complain that it should be put in the image carousel what type of tint they have rather than kinda buried in the sub-text.
Summary: These are great. Get them. Just double check your colour selections.”
“Unsatisfied customer....
After hearing about the reputable and strong brand of Smith, I decided to purchase my first pair of sunglasses after owning a pair of Oakleys for 8 years.
Once received, I loved them. I loved the shape, lens clarity, fit and style. They were everything I had hoped in finding a new pair of sunglasses. I had confidence I had found my next pair of sunglasses for years to come (knowing how to properly care for them) but that is not the case.
I have owned these for less than 5 months and I'm already finding that the matte finish on parts of the temples and nose pads are chipping away and losing its' finish. Disappointed to say the least. It wouldn't bother me so much but these sunglasses aren't exactly the cheapest. I was expecting much higher quality from a brand like Smith. All this to say, I most likely won't be purchasing another pair of Smith Sunglasses ever again.”

“Riptide and the Smith glass lenses are one of my favorite combos for sunglasses. It’s almost hard to wear polycarbonate lenses after using these!
Great product! Great customer support!
I use these glasses every shift on a fire truck and they hold up!”
