“I love smith lenses and sunglasses, or at least I used to, but as of late they have really given me a lot of headaches both figuratively and literally. I’ll talk more about that later. It really seems like quality isn’t what it used to be. I have had several pairs of smith guides choice, but the last couple have been poor quality. I recently had to warranty a pair that the frames had warped on and the lenses had little delaminated in little spots. I was sent another pair ( this time bronze mirror lenses) and when they arrived I wore them driving. And the lenses were defective somehow because every time there was a car headlight or light source of any kind there would be a triple vision kaleidoscope surrounding the light source. It was so bad that even traffic lights would do it and my eyes fatigued in about 15 minutes of wearing them and I had a bad headache. I contacted Smith and they warranted them. Thankfully smith’s customer service is still very good, that is something I’m still very grateful for. I threw away the old sunglasses and I was sent a different colored lens pair, this time brown lenses, because I was afraid to order the same color lenses again after the previous lenses fatigued my eyes so quick because of the light kaleidoscope issue. When the new ones arrived the lens quality was the same perfect lens I’ve gotten used to. Smith lenses really are amazing when not defective. It’s like seeing new colors almost when you put them on. After wearing this new pair only a handful of times though the left hinge has given me issues. I looked at the screw that holds the arm to the frames to make sure it wasn’t loose, it wasn’t. The hinge is weird it doesn’t just hinge in, it also swivels around considerably so when your wearing them they don’t sit flat against the side of your head. It didn’t look terrible when I looked at it and tried to ignore it but it is getting painful because it pinched me. They pinch hair and skin because the arm hinge isn’t secure enough (see video). Its like having a little pair of tweezers occasionally pinching your hair, and even skin. These glasses are very tight to your face (see photo) which I like but because of this the hinge looseness has become a real issue. I should add though that is is only the left hinge the right hinge is perfect.
I’m really pretty irritated about the whole thing because I have been sent 2 replacement pairs of sunglasses now and both of them and had pretty considerable issues. I don’t know if I’m even going to try again with the warranty process at this point because after being sent two pairs and having to brake 2 pairs (part of the warranty process is braking the old pair of sunglasses for your warranty) I’m no closer to having sunglasses that I want to wear everyday all day like I used to want to wear these sunglasses.”
“Love these glasses, broke my first pair pretty shortly after purchase. Liked them enough to get another set. Excellent clarity, seeing more fish and in deeper water to boot.”

“Amazing glasses; would 100% recommend to any outdoor enthusiast. Outstanding clarity, colors actually pop as advertised! Grey lenses work in bright and overcast weather. I actually wear these for better vis while driving in rain. Nose bridge occasionally creates hotspot but overall very comfortable to wear for all day activities. Fits well under curved hatbrims. Definitely a larger look; still works with a smaller face size if you like larger glasses. Only gripe is that the matte finish makes the plastic frames feel cheaper than the price dictates. In gloss they would have a more premium feel. Overall I love them.”
