“In July 2024, I used my Ventures for a very sunny week on the glacier at Mount Baker in Washington State, USA. In short, despite my concerns about my eyes being sensitive to bright light, especially sunlight on snow, the Ventures worked perfectly from sun up to sun down. I was initially concerned about how light the lenses seemed, but they adapted to the ambient light perfectly, and both protected my eyes from the punishing sun, and remained light enough to see the terrain, my gear, hazards, etc. Highest personal recommendation.”
“Recently arrived, love the fit, the aesthetic, and the blinders for fishing and glacier travel. I do find the blinders a bit difficult to remove, just wouldn't want to do it every time I wear them.
I did notice the almost immediately that the optical quality seems to deteriorate towards the sides of the lenses. Maybe an issue with photochromatic coating or similar? Never had this issue with other Smith glasses. Otherwise perfect.”

“I recently purchased the Tortoise + ChromaPop™ Glass Polarized Bronze Mirror sunglasses specifically for cross country skiing and snow camping. I wanted more coverage on my face form my glasses for all day wear, and I thought a pair of glacier glasses would do the trick. The lenses on these sunglasses are amazing. I could see the texture of the snow clearly, and the polarization helped with the spring snow conditions. However, the bridge piece never stayed on well and fell off during my trip. I was disappointed by this since it just never felt fully secure. The side shields were good but it would be nice to have another set with more breathability that is interchangeable or a little smaller for smaller faces or lower nose bridges. Overall I think these are a great set of modern glacier glasses and I plan to use them for many more adventures!”
“So good I just ordered a second pair. The Smith Venture really stood out to me as something different and unique. I appreciated good styling, snug fit, and superior optics, and these ticked off all the boxes for me. The side skirts are very cool and if the alpine 'look' is not your thing, they can be removed. The removable bridge above the nose piece adds a coolness vibe that is missing from a lot of other styles out there. One note on that though, mine came loose and fell to the ground after the third day, so I ended up dabbing a bit of glue to keep it in place. Chromapop is the real deal, and the photocromatic lenses add a nice piece of versatility. Get them, you won't regret it!”
