“I like the looks of Smith Glasses, have a few pairs of sunglass and figured I would try their Rx glasses. I have always had issues with the durability of their sunglass lenses, but figured I would try the Rx anyways. I thought with the "Superior Hard Coating" would protect them from scratches, more than the sunglasses. Unfortunately, that is not the case. These are the softest lenses I have ever had on Rx glasses. I literally took them out of the box, tried them on, set them on the table and dropped a pen next to them, that bounced onto the lenses and they got scratched. I work as a professional outdoors and can't use these. I keep them on my coffee table now, as a backup. Do not buy these if you do anything more than work in a pillow factory.
I like the look of them, but the lenses are absolutely terrible. I literally bought $2.50 readers from Walmart, and they have more durable lenses.
Style is important, being able to see is more important and not wasting money is even more important. $300 down the drain.”
“I have worn Smith prescription glasses for years and I am sorry to say that this will likely be the last pair I purchase from them. The frames are always great looking and fitting and I appreciate that very much. However, I am on my second pair of Dominions this year due to delamination of the lenses from the first pair and am about to contact them again for similar issues with the newest pair I got just a few weeks ago. I don't know what is happening with their production of prescription lenses, but it is definitely not worth the price I have paid on top of the frame price. Even with gentle care and maintenance performed exactly as they recommend I already have nicks in one lens that is disrupting my visual field. Hope things change in the future and I can consider coming back, but for now I will start looking for a more durable product.
Just to be clear and transparent, Smith customer service (JOEL!!!!!!!!) has always been top notch and they are always super helpful in getting replacements out as soon as possible. It's the lens that sucks and the time spent getting them replaced that is a real bummer.”
“The color is much darker than the online images. The blue color only appears when there is significant light. The prescription lens quality is great. The feel is pretty good overall.”
“I love the looks of these glasses and when I tried them on the first time I was impressed with the quality, then things changed. I got progressive lenses and they were crystal clear, still are, however, after wearing them twice, I noticed a large scratch on the bottom of the lens. I am not sure what it is from, I literally put them on my face, took them off and put them in the protective sleeve then the case and put them back on the next day. They didn't come into contact with anything other than the case/bag. To me this is extremely strange. I am not sure what the lenses are made of, but they don't seem to be the same quality of any of my other Smith glasses. Thankfully it is just out of my line of sight. Overall, really nice looking, fit, they are a bit tight on larger heads, but not terrible.”
