“I recently bought the Smith Survey Mips in Matte Black + ChromaPop Photochromic Rose Flash Lens. First, I love Smith helmets, and this one is no exception. Second, I love the lens - Integrated ChromaPop™ visor lens - great field of view with contrast, color, and terrain-enhancing clarity, as represented on this site. However, if conditions are windy or snowy (at all), snow and wind come in through various gaps and hit your eyes and face. I was skiing in a blizzard two days ago and it made it very difficult, plus the lens started to fog up. In addition, the lens - while amazing - is not great in low light or flat light conditions...and that's a big downer, making it really difficult to see the terrain. The salesperson who sold me the helmet misled me to believe that I could buy a low-light lens on the Smith website, but that's just not true, unfortunately. It's still a great helmet and the integrated visor/lens is super cool, but if conditions are not ideal be sure to prepare accordingly - bring another helmet and goggles.”
