“Circumference was good.
However the interior height was way to much. It was like putting a casserole on my head. To fit you would need to have an unusual tall head. With ski goggles on my goggles were pushed down over my nose.”
“Best fit I’ve ever had on my hard to fit oblong head. Truly fits my head like a dream with the Boa feature. I have not yet found goggles that integrate sufficiently though. I asked Smith for assistance, but have not heard back yet. I need to fix this issue ASAP.”

“I upgraded to this helmet from a previous Smith helmet that I was happy with, but had served its time over that last 8-10 years. The Nexus has great venting and fit. Only issue I have is the sizing, while true, I am at the upper limit of a size M which fits perfectly without any under helmet insulation. Unfortunately, if I want to increase insulation and add a skull cap or very thin wool cap, the helmet is tight. If I go up a size, then the helmet is loose on the smallest setting without a skull cap. My issue ultimately…just on the cusp of the sizing range. Perhaps future helmets will be sized with a slight overlap.”
“My past Smith Helmet from 4-5 years ago is one of my favorites! It fit well, was comfortable, and well made. So I was excited to get a new one this year. The new Nexus MIPS I just purchased however, had a few issues that my past ones didn’t. Slider for the air-vents are flimsy and don’t quite lock into place properly. The boa system isn't integrated well into the fabric, so when I tighten it the cord digs into the side of my head. I still love how it combos well with Smith goggles, and the color scheme is great! Just wish better quality control had been done on the helmet.
Overall, it feels like the quality of the helmet has just gone down in comparison to my older models.”
“As a Professional Ski Patroller, a good quality well fitting helmet is essential. For years I tried to wear Smith’s like my other Patrollers only to find them too small for me. Now I’ve found the Nexus in XL and finally, I have a Smith helmet that fits! The construction is top notch and I was very impressed with all the venting… Until i actually ski’d with the helmet. The front vents whistle, like a siren. And it’s not just me. I’ve checked with other Patrollers that wear the same model and all confirm this issue. Closing or reducing the opening seems to relieve the issue but be prepared for the sound of sirens when you have them wide open!”
